The bible never contradicts itself, rather it is usually our lack of understanding that is the problem. Sometimes it takes diligent work to really find out what it says. I wish you had given some examples for us to see .

The bible does not contradict itself. If it seems like it does, it is because you are confused about what it actually does say. I suggest reading an original King James Version; it is the simplest, easiest version to understand and it is the only version that is totally exact. I have been studying this version recently and I wish so bad that it would have been the only version I've ever studied because it makes it all clear without confusion. It's basically all so very simply put; do what you do out of a pure heart of love, for love does no harm to its neighbor, or do not do it, whatever it is. And love God will all your heart.
Now people confuse what real love is; real love is not using someone for our sexual pleasures in fornication; to discard a person later on, for whatever the reason. No, sexual love must be in a marriage commitment. Til death do us part, that is the marriage commitment; when we break that, we are no longer acting in love toward our spouse, so then, we are sinning. For whatever is not of pure love out of a pure heart is sinful no matter the situation.
And there is no scripture that supports sin, period.

The Bible does NOT contradict itself in any way!.....Paul wrote to the evangelist Timothy, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Since Paul had just defined "Scripture" in the previous verse as that which Timothy had known "from childhood," this could refer only to the Old Testament—since the New Testament had not yet been written and compiled. Thus Paul's view of the Old Testament scriptures' necessity for Christian understanding and living is plain.
Yet most theologians and preachers today think Paul regarded the Old Testament scriptures as obsolete. They see him as the person who first taught that these Scriptures are no longer needed as an authoritative guidebook for Christians.
In reaching this conclusion, they distort some of Paul's difficult-to-understand passages for support of their claim that Jesus Christ—by dying on the cross—abolished the Old Testament law.
In making that judgment they ignore Peter's cautionary warning that "Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written . . . some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures" (2 Peter 3:15-16).
When we examine Paul's writings carefully, it is absurd to presume that he used as his primary authority the very writings he was supposedly dismissing. He consistently appeals to the Old Testament scriptures as the main authority for what he taught!....EDIT......Most people approach the Bible, either knowingly or unknowingly, with a built-in doubt of its veracity. If we really want to know the truth, we should at least temporarily lay aside such skepticism and examine the Bible with an open mind. One wonders how many nonbelievers in God would remain nonbelievers if they read and studied the Scriptures and examined the evidence for its accuracy and authenticity.

The Bible is the history of Religion and not religion in itself, The only part of the Bible is the Gospel, that is attributed to the words of Christ.
With the invention of the printing press many version of the Bible were printed, deleting different books they did not agree with. These bibles were written by common man. hence the contradictions.

The Bible was inspired by God, written by man and compiled by the Emperor Constatine. I have sometimes wondered what you have asked, as I read one section and then another. But it is in asking for disernment and wisdom to know what God wants and means that we gain understanding. Life's decisions are all choices. We have options and that is the free will he gave us. We all make mistakes and he forgives as long as we are sincere in heart for our repentence.
I grew up a die hard Catholic and became a Christian many years ago. Being brought up with so many man made rules and rituals was very difficult for me to assimilate. I went around in circles for many years trying to find Jesus in my life and not blame him for everything negative. I'm 57 now and I still find myself questioning, but my communication with Him is better and I hope that I have finally stopped going around in circles and stand on firm ground in my relationship with Him.
I try to pick up as much as I can, learn and practice. The Bible is just one step as to how one makes decisions - it's true knowledge of Jesus and His ways that assist us most.

would you just find the verse that favors what you want and run with it or go the other way??
do you think the bible is set up to test us by purposly contradicting itself? - WITHOUT ANY DOUBT. EVERY BOOKS IS WRITTEN FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF THE AUTHOR, BY FICTIONING THAT THEY ARE FOR THE WELFARE OF THE WORLD. When the Bible was publishing, there was no good transportation system and electronic Scales to scrutinise the book and raise challenge. IF THERE IS NO CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS, the general public - the incornation of the donkeys - would not talk about it and make it famous all over the world.
AFTER ALL GOD HAS NEVER TELL OR DO ANYTHING TO YOU OR TO ANY OTHERS - IT IS PURELY FICTION AND IMAGINATION OF YOUR "FATHERS".

The Bible is designed for testing the faith of believers. You can either choose to support by contemplating the Word or rejecting. But claiming invalidity based on translation is ignorant.

well i don't think it was designed as a test but i get your point. i don't think it should be used as a "guidebook to every decision i should make in my life" type thing. i think God wants us to use the brains and the hearts that he gave us. eccesiastes says there is a time for everything...a time to build up and time to tear down, a time to love a time to hate....there's not pat answer for every situation.
one of my bible college lecturers has an interesting perspective. he was an ex-detective and he said that when he interviewed suspects if their stories matched up completely then it was very suspicious. the most authentic eye witness accounts always differ slightly as everyone percieves things differently. for me it helped me understand the differences in the gospel accounts.
the other thing is alot of the bible is poetry... expression of feelings... which can be very contradictory sounding and yet authentic.

It is all about perception....how you are able to interpret the Bible ! If you are viewing with a critics mind then surely you will find plenty to write about, But if you are doing in Faith then it sinks in well.
It is also important that you dont let yourself be carried away when sometimes certain points are twisted out of context.
It matters what your intentions are if you are to read this sacred book.

I get your question but with all due respect, you're asking a vague question which is the norm for non-believers. If you find this to be so out of your PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ACTUALLY READING THE BIBLE, then give us an example of a contradiction you find so we can better help you understand what is truly being said. The Bible is not Dr. Seuss that is for sure, I can read the same verse 50x and each time get something new from it. :)
