ok so i was in the gym of a highschool that i dont go to, i was stretching as if i was going to have a game or practice for something, and my friend eric leans over and says that the girl i like "likes me more than any guy she's ever liked before" and so i get a really good feeling, and i go find her, and she was waiting for me at the door to the gym, throughout the dream it was kind of loud, but when i see her its like shes the only other person in the dream and it gets quiet so its just us, i ask her out and she says she cant atleast for right now because she plays volleyball and she thinks it would get in the way of that, and we have a really long hug and i just feel so content with my entire life, as though nothing is wrong at all and everything is perfect. i start to realize its a dream but i'm still filled with bittersweet feelings because i know she cares about me and i just wake up feeling kind of sad but really glad at the same time, any ideas on what it means?

You could start by taking the dream fairly literally and see if those interpretations make sense intuitively. The simplest literal interpretation is that you have strong unacknowledged feelings for her and you should try to be more than friends. If so, then you have a ready-made conversation starter. A little more sophisticated interpretation is that you have strong feelings for her but this isn't the time to act on them; the friendship you have now is tremendously fulfilling and that's what you should hold onto (the similarity of hugging and holding is worth considering).
If the literal ideas don't ring your bell, then look at all the elements as facets of yourself. That's the typical clinical approach to dream interpretation. I assume you're an adolescent, and stretching in a strange gym is a great metaphor of adolescence. Stretching suggests growth, ambition, reaching new heights, and anticipation of the upcoming event/contest/stage of life. The strange gym suggests the disorientation of adolescence--new body, new situations, and new experiences. I don't know what Eric might represent--maybe just a plot device. The critical element is the girl, of course. She might represent more than one facet of you, and multiple meanings can coexist. It's a part of you that's somewhat inaccessible but provides a deep sense of peace and well-being. In an emotional dream like this it's important to focus on the feelings--what is bittersweet in your life, and what could give you this euphoric feeling? I'd also ask myself what is my soul connection with this girl? I don't mean that you are romantic soulmates, but something about her and/or your relationship points to something within you that you yearn to connect with in a profound, soulful way.
If it were my dream I'd think of lost innocence and lost childhood. Ideally that's a state where it seems nothing is wrong, and it's bittersweet to know that in a literal sense it's gone forever and we can only recapture it in fleeting glimpses. That could just be the projection of an old fart and mean nothing to you.

dreams are really a personal thing, they have to be interpreted per individal...sometimes we dont even understand the meaning until later..best thing to do with dreams you remember is to write them down. trust me, you will learn the meaning later on.
from my side of the planet looking in on yours, your description tells me that you are secure, content with your life, hoping for a good relationship, yet you know if it's not the right time it won't happen right away, and you are ok with that. given the fact that this takes place in an unfamiliar setting (high school gym you dont go to)...i would say you are ok in just about any situation, confident and able to adjust without alot of discomfort.
now don't take this to heart, it's just one person's observation, others may get something totally different. good luck!

You're longing for a deep connection with someone. In that dream you found someone that can truly understand that part of you. You want to be with that person but they said that it wouldn't work out, but seems as how this person didn't run off right away it means that you two could still be really great be friends, and seems as how she didn't give up her feelings for you, the long hug, that means that she's not willing to give up, there is a promise of it in the future. Maybe you value people making something of themselves and pushing themselves to their limits(thus the sport, or you're just plain interested in sports).
Maybe you're searching for a deeper meaning in life, and a part of you wants a partner to join you along in the journey, you're discouraged because you seem to not find that someone anywhere, but you are reasurring yourself by letting yourself know that there is still time, and you are confident enough in yourself to wait.

You're infactuated with someone that you can't have! Get over it, grow a bit more to love yourself and understand yourself before you go off on a fringy sharing feelings with someone in dreams that does not have the same feelings "out here in the real world" for you! No matter how the dreams ends, it's a sure sign that you are the one that is moved and infactuated with someone and/or something about them that you cannot have!
Much Love
Peace & Happiness

Well my honest opinion, stretching could mean preparation for what lies ahead, could be bad could be good, depends on the choices you make in your life. Your friend telling you of a girl you like, likes you, could depict on something you want really bad, and it feels in reality that is is out of reach, because you are in such conflict of your feelings towards this person on what to do, and if it is a girl, of that what you want, than you should pursuit. The situation with her saying her volleyball gig will interfere, think of it as like obsticles in a relationship. I am not definite on all of this, but I hope it helps somewhat and goodluck.

>> If there is a girl you like a lot ~ maybe you are a little nervous about making contact ~ maybe the dream is saying to get out there & ask her out. AKA. 'stretch your muscles' a little bit more on this one & take some action toward making contact ~ your own fear is the thing getting in the way & stopping you from making contact ~ (the girl saying it would get in the way of volleyball is really your own fear of rejection(?) getting in the way)
Hope this helps. Ciao!

Hmmm, sounds like you know that if you ask her out that it will get in the way of her volleyball and you care to much about her to get in the way of that. Or your a little nervous of asking her out. If you want my advice tell her about your dream. Girls love it when you are open with them. Who knows you might just get on the subject and she will indecate that she wants you to ask her out. But hey that's just my opinion.

You have high expectations in your love life ("likes me more than any guy she's ever liked before"), but they won't always be fulfilled. You'll be ok with it because you'll know, inside, that it's for the better.
I'm only an amateur, though (almost two years), so I'm not too sure...

Dreams are a way of clearing out your sub-conscious of thoughts you never realised you had.
I dream too much, but it is a way of clearing my cluttered head! But if I have a good dream, I have trained myself to go back to sleep, and continue the dream.
Sweet dreams!
