There are few if any great deals in optics, you need to pay for quality but it is so worth it. Anyone who has ever bought a cheap scope will tell you it's a waste of money, time and most importantly missed opportunity.

Leupold is very good, they don't make a bad scope but they are not the only quality scope maker. I like Nikon best of all and have had great success with them in many models, they are in most models less than Leupold. There are a few European companys like Zeiss that make very fine scopes but usually way out of my budget. I think that Weaver belong in this group as well, their line today is very high quality.

For a rifle such as this I'd estimate you need to look at $200 minimum and likely more. It's better to put a good scope on a cheaper rifle than vice-versa. You have a good rifle, it deserves a good scope. Are you going after Moose and Grizzly with that .300WM?

Leupold, Bushnell, Weaver, Mueller, Trijicon. Any of these are a great scope. Go to a Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, Gander Mountain, or Academy Sports and Outdoors and look through the scopes at something in the store until you find the one which is clearest to you. There are many good scopes, just look for the quality brands. I have had bad luck with Simmons, so I currently avoid them, but that is just my preference.

Leupold mark 4, nightforce NXS, Schmidt & Bender, US Optics. In a power range of 4-16 or 5-20.

By the way, what is the rifle going to be used for?

You can never go wrong with a Leupold!

I had a Vari-X II 3-9X50mm scope on my old Ruger M-77 .300 WinMag.

Now there is a Vari-X III on the market. I would strongly recommend it.

Leupold and Swavorski are the most expensive but there are others..... I use a Konus I paid $99 for and it works great.... a 3X12X50 ..... just get a good name brand but nothing cheap.... remember you get what you pay for..... get a $30 scope and thats what you will be looking through......
