Has there ever been only one car ( leader ) on the lead lap and finish there... with everyone else atleast 1 or more laps behind?
If so track, date, person...please??? ty

October 30, 1966 at North Carolina Motor Speedway, Rockingham, NC

Fred Lorenzen won by 4 laps.



June 18, 1967 at North Carolina Motor Speedway, Rockingham, NC

Richard Petty by 1 lap.



October 29, 1967 at North Carolina Motor Speedway, Rockingham, NC

Bobby Allison by 1 lap



As you can see, it's happened a lot.

Yes, in fact, this was quite common through the 1960's. Ned Jarrett won the 1965 Southern 500 by 14 laps.

Yes, there's been a few but it was a long time ago.
Wendell Scott won one lap ahead at the 'Turkey Day 200' in 1964 at Jacksonville Speedway.

Back on the Super Speedway's Richard Petty and others have done it too.

I think I remember Harry Gant doing this in the 90's at Dover or Richmond. I think Davy Allison was in second place a lap down. This was during a stretch that Harry won four in a row and got the nickname Mr. October.

In 1985 Bill Elliot raced himself back from 2 laps down to win at Talladega before they had the lucky dog and restrictor plates, and did it all under green flag racing.
