I would try a poodle for not shedding. They do shed, but they dont shed like a german shepherd or most long haired dogs. When poodle sheds, it sheds small clumps of hairs, and the hair of a poodle is more like a human hair than any other kind of dog breed. As far as barking at intruders and not friends, any dog can be taught to alert you when intruders are present and they can be taught who is a friend and who is not. Any dog trainer or obedience instructor can give you some good advice on the subject.

Schnauzers are good for the non shedding bit, although the trade off is grooming bills. If not groomed regularly they become a mess of knots that are painful to them. If you TRAIN them.. (and trust me, you will want professional training.. and ask if they have dealt with schnauzers before because they are bred to think and respond differently than most breeds) they don't bark too much.. but you have to be firm from the beginning.. I moved out of the house, and my mother had her 2 schnauzers .. they were great when I left, but somehow she let them start barking and now it's anytime ANY BODY walks in the door.

All dogs need training to know when to bark, and when not.. and most small dogs are barkers by nature, so it's got to be consistant training.

I'm a proud owner of a miniature dachshund. She is small (7.lbs) she doesnt shed. She only barks if there is an intruder. This is good to me . since thats what dogs do.

You can't just say you don't want the dog to bark at certain people. You have to train them not to bark at friends. I think its better if the dog gives a little bark at people to let you know that they have come into the house.

do no longer understand approximately all your needs, yet under is a area which could help you start up your seek. BTW poodles are person-friendly to coach none laying off small dogs, which could learn while to bark. Ours in uncomplicated terms bark on the door or if somebody is on the element to the domicile (in the backyard).

It seems like all small dogs bark. They have the little guy syndrome.

Yorkie! The have real hair, not animal fur so they don't shed and don't bother allergies. You train them to bark or not bark. Mine is 5 and it took a few weeks to train him not to bark. But if someone comes along he doesn't know he'll let out a yelp, but not a non-stop bark type thing.

Yorkies RULE!

It sounds like you need to look into purchasing a robot, not a dog.

There are a few breeds with hair so no shedding and very or no dander. Here is an example of a great designer hybred.
