That's something each couple has to decide for themselves. However, I think you might want to consider this a good opportunity to have a conversation about your finances and bigger issues than just the monthly bills. I suspect, by the way you've written your description, that you're harboring a lot of resentment about paying the $700/month toward his credit cards. He's probably resenting the fact that he's paying all of the $1400 rent. In truth, they essentially cancel each other out, on paper. But that doesn't mean that's necessarily how it feels. Talk about that. For me personally, if the two people involved are making approximately the same amount of money, we'd each be paying half toward the shared expenses (rent, utilities, groceries, etc.) and we'd each be paying our own PERSONAL expenses (which would include cell phones, as far as I'm concerned.) You could accomplish this by setting up a joint checking account and each of you depositing half of the budgeted amount for shared expenses. That way whatever is in your own accounts you aren't accountable to each other for spending. Ultimately, you can, of course, split it up however you like. But I hope you'll look closer here at some long-term goals. Do you want to buy a house? If so, are you planning for that? He's retired, but are you making any plans for your own retirement? These things don't just happen. You have to make them happen.

All jobs have ups and downs. You can't ask for a stress free job and hope it's easy AND well paying. There is almost no job out there like that. Just try to find a job that doesn't bug you much. Mine is making pizzas and I always have a good time because I work with 4 of my friends.

Hi
Life is full of stress , you should find the job that you think is stress free according to you & . I think if you try to work on-line from home & get good pay, you will feel less stressed, but that kind of jobs are very competitive & take a lot of time to make money, but you can start searching & see if this is less stress to you.

I have heard that being a sanitation worker pays very well because most people do not want a job that is nasty so the pay goes up.
