Not AFRAID of Him like a child is of the boogie man. I fear Him though. That means I have respect for God and for who He is. It's kind of like a child and their parent. You are not literally AFRAID of them, but you do what you are told b/c you don't want get in trouble. You are obedient to them b/c you want them to be proud of you. It's the exact same way with God. I want Him to be pleased with who I am. Therefore, I will be obedient to Him b/c He loves me and has my best interest at heart. I am not necessarily AFRAID of God, but I fear letting Him down.

dear
Fearing God, says St. Thomas Aquinas, is only a first step towards understanding “the knowledge of Divine things.” On the one hand, we fear God as a servant fears a master, fearing God’s punishment; on the other hand, we fear God as a child fears a parent; “in order to make a beginning, man must first of all fear God and submit himself to Him: for the result will be that in all things he will be ruled by God.

but,G-d is really really a loving,king G-d ever.
thank you.
may G-d bless you.

It's more of a respectful fear.. if you know what I mean... like you probably respect you father (depending how old you are lol) but your not afraid of him.. but you know if you do something wrong he can punish you. once again depending on your age you can relate to this.

but most of us don't fear are fathers physically, well we at least shouldn't and that's pretty much the way I feel about God..
I respect his power and I respect him.. and I know if he wanted to he is powerful enough to kill me easy.. but he isn't the kind of God that goes around killing people for no reason. but the point is he could if he wants to.

in a short term- it should be a healthy, respectful, fear.

I cannot speak for Christianity or Judaism since I believe I don't have sufficient knowledge but in Islam, the concept of fearing God is the fear of disappointing Him and fearing His punishment. So yes I do fear Him.

I have respect but no reverence, so really no I'm not.
I fear myself and nothing else. Why should I fear an Deity that doesn't care about me.

peace
