My roommate and I both have some boxing/kickboxing experience and would like to set up a boxing area in our home gym.

What would be a good punching bag?

Also, I'm looking for new gloves. What would be some good gloves to buy? (I'm relatively petite. Does that change which size/weight I should buy?)

you should go to a second hand store that sells boxing equipment, for example out here in L.A. there is a store called play it again sports, i was able to get a few pairs of gloves, and some bags and some hand wraps all for less than they would have in any other store.

A good punching bag would be everlast but not the same for the gloves. you should get either depending on damage level cleyto reys gloves for punishment) gel boxing gloves for better fit) or possibly everlast if your trying to save money there not that bad. And yes it does matter what size gloves if you want to get stronger 16 or 12 ounce gloves will do the trick if just for tone 8 or 10 ounce. hope this helps you

There are alot of different types of bags and gloves. Are you looking for a heavy bag or a speed bag? I would suggest that you check out ringside.com they have everything you might need.If you're going to be hitting a heavy bag, make sure you get a good pair of bag gloves- not the kind that look like mittens- and a set of hand wraps. You can hurt your hands otherwise.

a good punching bag would be finding a dwarf in your area. that would save taking up room in your house because after you beat the hell out of them they could just go home. The lower the ounce in gloves the less padding there is between your fist and whatever dwarf you are punching. If you really want to hurt them get 7 ounce gloves. If you only want to get their attention 16 ounce.

i found a store that has home gym equipment and stuff especially designed for women. you and your roomate may also want to consider getting gloves and focus mitts to work out together. I would recommend at least 14 oz gloves
