or something equivalent to that but not mushy sounding. there's a guy who DOES speak English but i think it would be nice to say it in Spanish because he helps me so much with the Spanish speakers at work and he doesn't really have too. he is a really nice guy. how would you say that in Spanish "your a nice guy" or "a good friend to me"

Eres muy amable = You're very kind
Eres un buen amigo = you're a good friend

EDITED: Don't say 'ME eres un buen amigo'. We do not say that in Spanish.

You can't translate 'you're a good friend TO ME'. It's just not said.
You can add 'conmigo' to my first sentence: 'Eres muy amable conmigo' = 'you're very kind with me'.

If you really do not like to sound mushy what you have to say is "Eres un muy buen (excelente) amigo para mí", and If you would like to say "you are a nice guy" just use "Eres una gran persona".
