I think I asked this question before...but I didn't find any answers I liked. I'm 13, and a friend's science fair health survey made me realize I'm not so healthy. I'm trying harder to eat nutritiously, but I'm not so sure how to exercise. So you're supposed to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, but I hardly do even a few minutes.

I don't play any sports, except for volleyball. But I don't have practice that often, and if I did it at home I wouldn't be getting much exercise since I wouldn't move around much. I don't really like any other sports...how can I exercise then?

Walk to the store, walk with your friends, walk to school, walk to volleyball, walk your dog, walk to find inner-peace. Walking is amazing, but don't use an MP3 player, you're not experiencing the world when you do that. Tune in to your surroundings and get to know where you live, what plants grow around you, who your neighbors are. There's good stuff in the world, go take a look while walking, you'll see a lot! That might be entertaining enough to make you forget that you're getting exercise!

Otherwise, you're young, try every sport and exercise that you can. Yoga is challenging and you'll learn about yourself if you take it further into meditation and you can learn on DVD's that you play at home. In tennis a score of zero is LOVE, isn't that lovely? Play tag with the neighbor kids, that's exercise. Carry groceries into the house, that's weight-lifting. There are ton's of ways to incorporate movement into your life.

Good luck.

First of all, I wouldn't take your friends survey to heart. These fitness surveys usually make everyone feel unhealthy. My advice is to think of active things that you truly ENJOY and get in a routine of doing them at least 3 times a week, not every day. Active does not have to be a sport. It could be biking, hiking, walking, and my top pick would be swimming. Most towns have an indoor pool you could use - its the best exercise out there. Total body workout, burns calories and tones up the whole body. Hope this helps.

The best excercise is free and simple , a 30 min. walk twice a day is a good one , being a kid not to exciting ): , swimming is another good one , bike riding is also good but it does more for legs l would think , if you like the out doors go hiking in a park or the bush , make sure you know your way around a bush before you go there and get lost ): , if you have the self discipline you can do it , and don`t be eating junk food all the time ,good luck , saranora dnear

Do something you enjoy like walking or dancing, ride a bicycle or take a class in aerobics, there are so many things you can do! Even going to the mall and walking the whole mall is exercise, at least you are thinking about this! HOW COOL IS THAT! Exercise needs to become a habit, and in order to make it a habit you need to do it consistently for atleast 30 days! Good Luck....

Continue to eat and make healthy choices, ask your parents to help and to buy snacks that are good for you.
The exercise part is a little more difficult---- Try starting out slowly. Walk or ride your bike for ten minutes a day and each day increase a little and pretty soon you'll find that you will be automatically exercising.
The main thing is not to go gun ho at first or you will injure your self or your program won't last.

Another tip is dancing is excellent exercise, go to your room turn it up and go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excersising doesn't have to be a chore- there are a lot of different ways to exercise. I'm really glad you're interersted in keeping healthy.
In the summer I love to take walks around the neighbor hood while listening to my iPod, but in the fall I don't do that as much because of the rain.
But my favorite method of exercise is putting on some of my favorite music and just rocking out to it in my room (where absolutely no one can see me) I make up my own dance routines, dress in craaaaazy outfits with outrageous makeup, and just have fun for a while dancing around probably looking like an idiot.
this is a fun wayy to exercise, and it does't even have to be wild, it can be just twirling around to your favorite song.

Darling it's not really necessary to rush.. it should be slowly but surely.. don't be so anxious if what you're doing will make you slim or something you want. You said that you are not healthy... the thing is are you sure of it? Though it doesn't follow that if you're big/chubby or such means you're healthy. Just cool down... if you want to make sure of the thing, go to see your family doctor...

What they ansered above are good. Enjoy every mobile activities that you're doing everyday... cleaning the house/ going to beach or park or friends' houses..it's stretching plus exercising.. you got it doubled. refrain from junk foods... if you drink liquor (hmph.. pretty unconventional at your age) then lie-low on that.. and have enough rest..not having enough rest/sleep may lead to gaining of weight you know.. and lastly.. whatever you are doing, do the proper breathing.. see a baby sleeping for example of a proper breathing... have a balance life.. ehehehe i wish this will help.. at least.. be cool. ayt?

Buy an exercise video that you can follow at home.

Google for exercise routines that you can do at home.

Walking.

If affordable you can buy an exercise bike, treadmill, dumbells, etc.

Just remember to eat healthy, develop a weekly routine, spend less time in front of the tv (unless you are doing something active while watching).

PS. Buy an Ipod to keep you from getting bored while walking

Good luck!!!

Go for walks. I have started exercising lately because I gained some weight. I walk around our park, it is 6 blocks. So depending on how many times I go, I can guage my mileage. If you have a head set for music, I think it could be quite enjoyable, but of course make sure it is during the day, and stay around people.

Exercise is not just "sports". It is simply physical activity of any kind.
Ride a bike for a half hour a day.
Walk every day - down to the park, to the mall, to school, wherever.
Find some physical activity you enjoy - dancing, aerobics, wrestling, foot racing, hiking, skiing, swimming...the list is endless.
Just find something and do it every day.
