Do you think it would be a good idea for another country such as Turkey, to assist the US in our "so-called" strategy in Iraq? It appears that the US doesn't want help, according to our administration. Turkey would devote 60,000 troops; more than any other country to date to help us. What do you think?

The smart thing to do is easy to determine. Just watch what Bush does. The smart thing is the opposite.

Turkey isn't considering invading in order to help us. They've been very upset about our invading Iraq from the beginning, and that's why they didn't let our troops enter Iraq from their territory.

What's happening is that the PKK, a Kurdish guerilla group that's been fighting in southeastern Turkey against the government for decades, has been using Iraqi Kurdish territory to launch raids against Turkey. The Turks have lost thousands of people fighting them, so they're very sensitive about the issue. They also don't want to lose the majority Kurdish areas of their country. They're also a democracy, so they feel pressure to respond to the anger of their people over the conflict.

They don't think that the Iraqi government or US forces have responded to these raids, so that's why they're considering taking action. It's happened before, they launched limited invasions across the border twice in the 90's.

So this isn't to help us at all...it's to fight their enemies across the border who are exploiting a safe haven to keep fighting a war that's been going on for decades. It's a bad situation, since much of Iraqi Kurdistan is actually the most peaceful part of Iraq. This would bring war to the only part that's halfway at peace.

The Turk's aren't here to help. As said before they are wanting to crush a threat that has been a long time rivalry in northern Iraq. If this were to happen, Iran would have an opportunity to aid the Shia...along with alleged reports of them aiding the Sunni, even though they are enemies. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

This war has done wonders for everyone bad. We are simply driving the good things to death and the bad things together in Iraq and the surrounding region, all the way up to Russia. Nothing has gone right in decades there with any U.S. involvement. If it does go right, its only an ilusion, until it comes back and haunts us some years later. We are screwed. Something wicked this way comes. And Bush is smiling. Shame for us.

Turkey never invades her neighbours. There is doubt about it. If Bush administration knows what they are doing in Iraq and what they should do and if USA policys are not againts the Turkish national interests then Turkey may help USA. Then USA spents less USA dolars and less american soldiers die.

Last I read, Turkey wanted to crush the Kurds on Iraq's northern border, not lend a helping hand to the US mission in Iraq.
