I feel really fat because I've completely let myself go in regards to eating right and exercising. I've gained 35 pounds in 3 years. I'm 5'2 and weighed 125 and now I weigh 160, which is a lot of extra weight on my small frame. I'll admit--I have been eating lots of junk food and don't work out--I work at a bank and sit on my butt all day and then come home and sit on the couch. I eat lunch at McDonalds because its convenient and my co-workers bring in treats all the time.

Anyway, I knew I hit rock bottom today when a sweater I almost gave away a few years ago because it was too big now fits me too tightly (I had to "stretch" it and I felt my fat rolls on my stomach and back jiggle all day. I HAVE to get this fat off of me!

How long will it take? I don't want to diet drastically, I'm just going to eat healthier & use portion control. I can get to the gym on Mon, Wed and Fri. Any advice?

For one thing stop going to MCDONALDS, unless you only get a salad. Their food is very high in fat. I just read that to lose weight you need to eat small amounts every three hours, that way you will never feel hungry. Of course you have to eat healthy or it won't do you any good. Drink lots of water, not pop. Three times a week is good for exercising, and walk the other days, even if you walk up and down your living room while watching tv.

First of all, it's good you relize you need to make changes with your body.
Secondly, you do need to stop eating McDonalds. Brown bag it! PB and J really fills a person up. If you absolutly have to eat from Micky D's, get a salad with grilled chicken, not crispy, and don't eat any ranch or cramy salad dressing that comes with it. Cut out Starbucks if you drink it, or any kind of super chocolaty carmaly whipped creamy coffee. You should aim for about 1,300 calories a day.
Need a menu for a day?
Breakfast: 2 real eggs(140 calories) or a cup of egg substitue(120 calories, try better n' eggs) Do not put cheese or anything on them! spray the pan with Pam nonstick spray, don't use butter.
One bannana(100 calories)
One cup skim milk (100 calories)
Total:340 or 320 calories

Lunch: Two slices of bread (90 calories each) with one tablespoon of reduced fat peanut butter (100 calories) with one tablespoon strawberry jam or preserves( 50 calories, preserves are my favorite)
Qaker Chewy Granola bar (chocolate chip) or any 100 Calorie Pack snack: 100 calories
Water bottle with a powder drink packet mixed in( 0 calories!)
Total: 430 calories

Snack: 100 calorie pack popcorn or any 100 calorie pack
Fiber One Chocolate and Oats Granola Bar ( 140 calories, looooove these soo much! very chocolaty)
Total:240 Calories

Dinner: 4 Morning Star Farms Vegetarian Chicken Nuggets(200 calories including ketshup, these are soo good! taste like the real thing and you can microwave them!)
A cup of strawberries or other fruit (100 calories)
A cup of skim milk (100 calories)
Total for the Day:1310 calories

For exercise, get to the gym on Mon. Wed. and Fri., this is when you'll do your cardio workouts, which means going on the treadmill, eliptical, and bicycle or other equipment that gets your heart racing . Try to go for 2 hours.
On the days you are home, do your firming exercises. I love with a passion Denise Austin's Hit the Spot Pilates video. Do firming exercises for one hour. (situps, and other ab work)
You should start to see results quickly if you are committed!
Once you have started to see results, you can take a day off a week, but until then, keep at it every day.
It's worth it, really! You'll feel firm and have tons more confidence.
