I have recently had some small problems with my truck and i believe those problems caused an accident in my 2003 ford sports trac. I was wondering if anyone else out there has had problems with this type of vehicle? or if anyone knows of any Claims against it?

Buying a Ford is like a crap shoot, you never know what you arte going to get. 2 year red carpet lease is best if you insist on Ford as one 30 year mechanic said"We use generic parts or whats available to build Ford;s"

If anyone worked on your truck before the accident they may not have bled the power styeering system properly. If you had a brake job and the tech pushed the steering without it running it puts an air lock in the explorer steering system. It will show up when you drive on the highway and the entire truck shakes violently. It can be bled out with time by driving or a shop can power bleed it for you.
Just being curious but how much tread life is on your tires because if they were good you would not have fish tailed as easily.
Ford has an option they call RSC which is a stability control system that can prevent roll overs and accidents such as you had.

If you would say the problems, then someone might be able to answer it....

The sport tracs have some issues related to it's explorer heritage such as door ajar lights staying stuck on for example at times

A good source of information for you to check would be the
NHTSA-odi
(odi=office of defects investigations)
From this site you can see if others have filed safety complaints regarding issues that you may be experiencing.
You can also file an official complaint there yourself.
And you can also research investigations of your vehicle.
As well as seeing any Technical service bullitins or recalls.

NOTE: I have found the site a wealth of information but it isn't the easiest to navigate..... take your time you'll figure it out though.

Here is the link to the site:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/defect/defectsearch.cfm

I hope this helps

is this what happen,,you run into a puddle of water ,your steering get hard [[because the power steering belt got wet temporarily disabling the power steering]] you kind a panic and step on the brake causing it to fish tail,on the process you try to turn the steering and it vibrate [[ there is a bulletin on this, check ford to correct it ]] ...give your VIN NO to a dealer ,[[,usually a parts man will help if they are not busy,]]
and check for recall and bulletin to check if your car is included

It might help if you went into details as of what the problems are and the nature of the accident.
