A queen mattress is generally about 60" wide x 80" long.
A regular king mattress is about 76" wide by 80" long.
There is also a California King which measures 72"inches wide by 84" long.
Mattress depth varies by manufacturer.

I found this solution a long time ago and I never forgot how cool it looked and how well it worked. There is no reason why your headboard has to be against the wall. Have you ever considered putting your bed lengthwise against the wall, much like a couch, as opposed to the more normal width wise? I know it sounds odd, but it can really look awesome, and comes out looking more like an oversized lounge couch than a bed. You would need to remove the headboard and just use the frame of the bed, or you could even mount the headboard to the wall where the "back of the couch" section would be. It would certainly provide some interest! Stick your pillows against the wall and the look is modern, slimming, and when you want to sleep, just put them where you need them! If you have the wall space it really works as it opens up the middle of the room. And, because of the way the beds are arranged, you don't have to have an end table on each side. You could have the beds meet at a corner, and then have a table filling up the corner, almost like a sectional couch. Since I don't know the dimensions of the room or the furniture I can't offer much more advice than that. Hope you can both fit and I wish you all the best!!
