I listen to music to keep me energetic and make me want to keep going. I listen to really upbeat music. Also when I am running I listen to music to keep a steady pace so I don't go too fast or too slow.

When I listen to music, I tend to get lost in it and not realize how much time has passed. So when I work out (which can seem to be forever) I listen to music because it makes the time seem like it flies and it makes me less aware of the physical tasks I am doing.

Good luck on your science project!!

It gives me something to listen to while i'm working out. Also listening to music is fun and takes my mind of the excercising that I'm doing, therefore making it fun. I think everyone likes music, so it's just there for a little extra motivation.

I listen to music because without it, it would just be exercising which is boring. At least while I excercise I'll have some sort of entertainment.

cause it keeps your beat going and your heart temper
as of
"There's something intrinsically musical about the brain's neurological structure and the muscular function of the human organism," says Clive Robbins, DMM (Doctor of Medical Matters), cofounder of the Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy at New York University in New York City. "At a nonverbal level, music activates our minds, integrates our attention, and seems to help regulate some body functions."

In fact, the right song seems to work in more than one way--distracting us from pain, boosting mood, reviving old memories, even prompting the body to match its rhythms. "We know music is so incredibly complex. It has tempo, rhythm, melody, harmony. And so it stimulates the brain in many ways at once," says Alicia Ann Clair, PhD, a board-certified music therapist at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

Researchers at Colorado State University in Fort Collins found that stroke victims and people with Parkinson's disease walked more steadily and with better balance and speed if they practiced while hearing a steady metronome beat or a piece of music with a strong, even rhythm. "Rhythm has a powerful, organizing effect on motor skills," says Michael H. Thaut, PhD, director of the university's Center for Biomedical Research in Music. "It helps synchronize movement almost immediately."

I love exercising to music. It relaxes me, and I can exercise to the beat of the music, that makes it even better.

I find i feel more energetic when i have music on. No slow sappy sad songs though.Get moving music my son calls it cause you can't help but get off your butt and exercise or clean house. Keeps you focused and less distracted. Good luck

Because music gets your heart rate up and it makes you move more. That's the whole point of exercising.

If you choose upbeat music it can keep you going and give you energy to go farther than you think you can. The right choice in music can give you a boost that nothing else can.

By the way, you wrote "Why do you exercise with music and why" You already said that.
