Lol...Wow...I sounded bossy didn't I? and juevenile...But...Please ignore that...Well number one, it's not that bad really (the way I want to wear it.) I just like my eyeliner dark and full but she makes me wear it where it isn't even visible...I am just looking for individualitly and thats how I like to express myself...(I guess)...Number two, She won't even let me ask her...She just screams about it...Number three, she is being hypocritical because hers is very dark but of course she "is an adult living under her own roof..." heh heh...Its just these little things that set me off...Sorry, had to get that off my mind...

Well, I guess the question really is, how should I compromise with her...Without her very short temper blowing up.

Yes I'm an idiot.

In your mother's mind, makeup means you're growing up. Too much makeup means your growing up too fast. She may be concerned that you may draw the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of boys (or men, God forbid). All of this if you are under fifteen. If you are twenty one, her feelings may be the same, but your dynamic is different. Get your own apartment...then you can do as you please. If you must depend on her for room and board, humor her. Just wear heavy makeup when you go out and wipe it off before you come in for the night. Keeping peace is desirable.

Really, try watching "What Not to Wear" on TLC sometime. The make up girl on that show doesn't plaster a lot of eyeliner on the people getting makeovers -- she doesn't want them to look like hookers...

Notice that models in fashion magazines DO wear thick eyeliner.. it's for a dramatic effect for advertising and nothing more. Look at the make up ads, too.. You won't see women with dark, thick black eyeliner on models advertising expensive, high dollar makeup (or even maybelline really).

A little goes a long way. You are young, and i don't see why you want to look like a street walker?

Maybe you could do the highlight shadow under your eyebrow and on the inside edge of your eyes (by your nose) for more drama and to make your eyes look bigger? Just a suggestion.

Just my two cents.

You are not an idiot.. please!

Some options for you: Ask your mom to do a makeup consultation with you. You can have make up companies (like Mary Kay but their are others) send a sales consultant to your home to give you lessons and sell you the products. Or you could go to a department store makeup counter together. That way you could have a professional show you ways to apply make up that really pops enough for you but is sophisticated enough for your mom. And your mom may learn to tone her makeup down, too.

Or you can look through fashion magazines for examples of makeup styles. Cut out the pictures you like and sit down with your mom to come up with a range of what's acceptable to both of you.

Or watch the fashion makeover shows together and do the same thing.

Remember, compromise means you give a bit and she gives a bit. It doesn't mean you argue until you get your own way.

Had the same problem with my dad when I was in high school. I just put my make-up on light at home and then when I got to school did it the way I wanted and took it off before he got home. Kept the peace. He never knew I did it differently at school.
