I've got 5 cats, 3 are from a shelter, one was a semi-feral that i took in, and the other was a kitten I adopted from a woman that had an ad in the paper, I believe he was a stray.
1) My cats are a part of my family. I treat them as my children.
2) Sam is a spoiled brat, and hisses at all the other cats, an instigator, but he loves his people, Justice destroyed my couch, but hey, its just a couch, no big deal, he loves me and is loyal to me, great with the other cats, he love nips, but it doesn't hurt, its a form of endearment with him, Charcoal is very shy, she hides from my kids, but loves me, runs from the other cats, but holds her ground when necessary, Chicklets is my sweetie pie, she likes to rub on me, and loves to be pet, she's fine with the other cats, until they get too close, she likes her space and finally Tigress...my problem child, the semi-feral, she likes humans, she HATES the other cats, they could be 10 feet away, she growls, hisses, spits, you name it

My chihuahuas are my furry kids. They are very protective very loving, yes they do bark a lot but always for a reason, a knock at the door, a car in the drive, to alert me something is wrong in the house, for the most part they get along very well with each other with just an occasional squabble, do not bite unless in pain, 99% friendly to other people and other animals, very smart, very loyal. None of my dogs have had any professional training but they are some of the best mannered dogs you will ever see.
This all disproves what people say about dogs that are spoiled and treated like people, that they are the bratiest dogs, very ill mannered and untrained. Mine have been trained with love and kind words, lots of cuddles, lots of time spent with them. They are more human-like than a lot of people I know.
Okay one bad trait is some of them are chewers. As breeders we often have pups in the house and yes pups do chew. My adults don't. Yes, the pups have accidents. The adults don't. Pretty near perfect, but not quite.

I have a 1-1/2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier that I rescued from an animal shelter. I do not treat her like a little furry human, but I absolutely do love her. She is a part of my family.
Behavior wise, my dog is perfect for me. She does everything I ask of her. She came to me with no training At All. She is now potty trained, and knows many commands. She is not overprotective at all. She welcomes strangers with a smile and wagging tail. But if there is a strange sound at night she will bark. She does not chew on anything other than her dog toys. She is very friendly with people when we go on walks or up north. She is friendly with Most other dogs. She is NOT friendly with my brothers aggressive dachshund. This dog bit her on the nose a few times, so now she does not like this dog. Every time they see each other the dachshund charges her. She used to just back down and stay away from her, but she does not back down anymore. So they have to be separated. But she plays very well with every other dog. She actually LOVES to play with them. My dog has her own bed, she is not allowed on our bed, but she doesn't growl or anything when she is on the couch with us. She rarely barks at anything. The only time she barks is if she hears a strange sound at night. She walks well on a leash, and ignores most of everything around her, she just walks. She is everything I could ever ask for.

Question 1: Furry little Animal, but part of my family
Question 2: My dogs are not stranger friendly. But I prefer this this way, they are all very rowdy wrestling players, and walk well on a leash, so long as a prong collar has been employed. NOT dog friendly.

My pet is an animal, but still part of my family.
My Border Collie is pretty well behaved. She loves all the people she meets. I've gone to great efforts to socialize her extensively and most dogs she meets, she gets on with fine. Occasionally, there's one that might "eye" her and put her over the edge, usually of the herding variety and not uncommon either. She simply steers clear. She has never growled beyond a play growl at me or any other human. She walks well on lead and we're working towards being ready to enter Novice Obedience Competitions.

My Border Collie, is NOT a DOG, neither is she a human , and certainly not a pet.
Yes she is over protective, nips and herds me, but is very friendly to lower species, providing they know their place in HER society.
Yes I have Bitten Her in RETURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Basset Hound is a well behaved, friendly soul who would never bark, bite or intimidate any living creature.
INCLUDING THE CATS.
My German Shepherd.........Big Baby, Lives in fear of the Border Collie, loves the Basset and Grand kids, and chases the cat for fun not harm.
She is so insecure/protective, I am not sure which, that she always needs to touch me, and have her head buried in my chest or her "arms" around me when I am home.
That is if the Border Collie doesn't kill her for being such a noisy crybaby!
In my house I am the minority, I am the ONLY HUMAN, ...
Behavioral problems.....Yes I have a few, I don't share the sofa, I don't play ball constantly, Sometimes I forget to worship correctly. Oh Yeah, I am not leash trained, I don't take them for enought walks, even though they have several acres of land to roam on!

1. Furry little human AND Animal - I respect him as an animal and I acknowledge him as an animal, but you know what? He's more human than most humans I know - he isn't judgmental, he gives unconditional love, and is always happy and eager about life. How many people can you say that about?
2. He is very smart and very well trained. I would say his only 'problem' is that he is sometimes toooooo friendly around other people and he can get sad if he's not the center of everyone's world (even complete strangers lol).
I love him!!!! :)

My dogs are very important to me, however i know they are not human so they are not treated like a human.
They get spoiled, are able to sleep on my bed, go on vacation with me, etc.
They are well trained and a pleasure to have around, they would never think of nipping or growling at me (even though during obedience training they may nip me going for the ball)
They are aloof with strangers but safe in public,
They are good with other dogs as long as the other dog is not trying to dominate them.
hope that helps

I don't see how this is supposed to help, since by answering I'm already obviously aware of the situation. But here it goes:
Louie:
barks almost excessively at potential intruders (I don't hold it against him because it comes with his breed and he listens when I tell him to stop.)
Barks in a manner that sounds aggressive at other dogs while on leash- even though he's fine with other dogs and just wants to say "hi".
Doesn't understand "sit" unless given a hand signal.
Sydney:
Stubborn when outside
Easily distracted
Aggressive with dogs who are 40 lbs +
