Funny...
When you ask a serious question, you may have only one answer.
Whent you ask a pseudo-religious question, you are insulted by tenth of "christian" fanatics.
When you ask solmething really enormous, you got curses.
Hey you, US christians, when Jesus will return like he was in his time, i mean arabic or semitic look, will you sent him to Guantanamo or shoot him ?
I allways thought that christianity was a religion of forgiveness but US christians give no pardon

Actually Ive debated this question before.

Personally I think its a damn good question. The question would be did Jesus have a choice to live or die? Yeah he did. He knew he had to die for our sins, or would die for our sins. But he still picked to die. And he picked when to die.

How is that not suicide?

I like the debate. Im not saying its right or wrong, but I would love somebody to take some thought before answering this question.

Damn good question.

Good Job

There is the term "suicide mission" which is similar to what Jesus was on. But in fact the term is somewhat of an oxymoron. In fact Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 And I think that's generally agreed upon in society and not viewed as suicide.

Suicide is a different thing.

Kind of hard to explain the value of a self sacrifice in the context of the bible. But I will take a stab at it.

Ok, now a suicide is done for reasons of only selfishness. "I want to get rid of myself" Depression, tired of living, I been a bad boy, or no particular reason even.

Self sacrifice is to do so for others. Do you consider a soldier jumping on a hand grenade to save his buddies a suicide?

Sort of what Jesus did. It was to save us from an eternity in hell. His sacrifice was to wipe the slate clean with God for all of us.

Hope this makes sense to you.

No because before Jesus dyed soles went to limbo, and as a result of him laying his life down on the line, he essentially opened the doers in to heaven. I don't know I might have it wrong, its been a while since I really cared about that stuff.

All life belongs to God and is given to us out of love so that we might have the opportunity to love and worship God.

The sin of suicide is a rejection of God's love by rejecting the life that he gave us.

Because Jesus is God that rejection can not exist. Therefore the sin does not exist and therefore he is not damned and did indeed go to heaven.

It was not suicide at all. He died the death we deserved to die so we could go to heaven. He gave his life for many others. It was selflessness. I would die for my family and things that I believe in but it is not suicide.

Didn't he go to hell first to fight Satan? I think after that he got to go to heaven. Of course, if he can guilt-trip nearly a billion people for over 2000 years into spending half their weekend cooped up in church, imagine what a pain it must be to be near him. Start sinning now or else you'll regret it for all eternity.

Oh, puhleeze. Don't you have anything better to do than sit around trying to think up what you think are "deep" questions? To answer your question as civilly as I can: Crucifixion was NOT suicide. Sheesh!

Jesus chose to die for you and me. He didn't kill himself. Your's and my sins were forgiven by sacrifice by shedding of His blood, as God (The Father) had ordained, from the beginning of sin. Remember Adam? Eve? Cain?
