Jehovah's Witnesses do not have a monopoly on the name, 'Jehovah'! After a Roman Catholic priest came up with the version, 'Jehovah' it was popularized and occurs in very many hymns, both ancient and modern. Because few JWs know anything about hymns it's worth while showing them where 'Jehovah' occurs. I've been in many different denomination's services of worship and the Name has been used from the pulpit too, many times (sometimes as Yahweh). In much Christian literature (which JWs dare not read) the Name is also used. Just yesterday I got the Trinitarian Bible Society's booklet through the post and the Name occurs frequently, especially when they are discussing O.T. texts. Jehovah is more associated with the Lord of the O.T. in Christian churches. The more we Christians use it, the less the JW's will have to boast about!

it relatively is a shame to think of that the church homes around the globe experience the potential of God's genuine call Jehovah, and desire to exterminate it from each place that their final parishioners may even see it jointly as attending centers or analyzing their own replica of the bible at domicile. might desire to the reason be that once lower back, Jehovah's Witnesses the uncovered the fake doctrine lots that Church officers think of that in the event that they take God's call out of the relax 4 places it relatively is latest in maximum bibles that individuals would be greater gullible and are available lower back to fake faith dressed as Christendom? might desire to be! on the instant, maximum bibles have Jehovah's call at Exodus 6:3; Psalms 80 3:18 (19); Isaiah 12:2; 26:4 I placed into parentheses Psalms 80 3:19 simply by fact in some German bible Jehovah's call is got here across there particularly of verses 18.

The title God is used 4456 times in the kjv bible. The Lord (in reference to God) was used 7838 times. Jehovah is used only 4 times in actual reference to Gods name.Ex. 6:3, Ps 83:18, Is 12:2, Is 26:4. Jehovah-jireh is the name that Abraham gave to the place that the Lord God sent him to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice.(Gen 22:14)Jehovah-nissi was the name of an altar built by Moses. (Ex 17:15) Jehovah-shalom was the name of an altar that Gideon built. (Judges 6:24) I also looked at the amplified, nasb, niv translations and found that they do not use Jehovah at all in the 7 mentioned script. the JPS Bible used Jehovah only in Ex 6:3 of the 4 mentioned scripture. I also have a copy of the New World Translation which the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society(Jehovah Witness) have translated and copyrighted in 1961, redid in 1981 and once again in 1984. It would probably not be suprising to anyone to find Jehovah inserted countless times where all the other mentioned trans. use God ,Lord ,or Lord God. The one verse that has the same meaning in the KJV , JPSB and JW isEx 6:3 which says "And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them."I Question why an organization chose to change the LORD GOD'S to Jehovah which at the most was mentioned 4 times in 4 translations.

I tend to avoid the name Jehovah except in combination...
Jehovah-Jireh: The Lord will Provide (Gen. 22:13-14).
Jehovah-Rapha: The Lord will Heal (Ex 15:26).
Jehovah-Nissi: The Lord our Banner (Ex. 17:8-15).
Jehovah-Shalom: The Lord our Peace (Jud. 6:22-24).
Jehovah-Ra-ah: The Lord my Shepherd (Ps. 23:1).
Jehovah-Tsidkenu: The Lord my Righteousness (Jer. 23:6).
Jehovah-Shammah: The Lord is There (Ezek. 48:35).
edit: In the same way, I notice Christians rarely use the title Messiah, even when praising Him aloud, with every name they can think of!!!
I come up with 100 names for Jesus before I remember to call Him "Messiah".

If it makes you feel any better, the real name of GOD is YHVH, not Jehovah. Because YHVH is the sacred proper Name of the God of Israel, the ancient Jews did not wish to utter it. So to remind themselves not to say the Name, the Jews inserted the vowels of “Adonay” (i.e., a-o-a) between the four letters, thereby creating a substitutionary name “YeHoVaH” (the first “a” of Adonay is reduced to “e” under the “Y” of YHVH). The purpose was to pronounce the Name not as it actually reads (“YeHoVaH”), but as “Adonay,” which means, “LORD.” Christians who were unaware of this substitution phonetically voiced the Name as it was spelled (i.e., YeHoVaH), thereby causing the rendering the English version, “Jehovah.”
So instead of pronouncing God’s name as Jehovah, you could really pronounce it the correct way, & say, “Yahveh.”
BUT, besides the fact that Jehovah is not Gods’ real name, does it really bother you to say that name just because of the Jehovah's Witnesses? People use Jesus’ Name and say “God” in vain, but that probably doesn’t stop you from calling Jesus, Jesus, and God, God, right? Don't let people take away what is yours -- your right to His Name. Shalom to you.

No, because I don't associate His name with this cult! Remember, it was His name long before this cult ever came into visibility. This cult uses His precious and holy name to further their agenda and suck in weak minded people who do not look to Jehovah at all. They are focused on believing the "organization" instead of Jehovah. This is why they were wrong numerous times in predicting the end of the "system of things". If they would have looked to what the Bible said they would know that no man knows the day or the hour. You must learn to think of God's name separate from this man made organization that controls the minds of it's members.

This will make you feel better...I left a link to the rest of it if you want to check out the whole article.
There is a common belief in modern Christendom that the divine name of God in the OT is "Jehovah." The most influential group advocating this pronunciation of God's name today is the Jehovah's Witnesses. This study is intended to demonstrate that the name "Jehovah" is not, and never was the name of God in the OT, but is an accidental, fabricated pronunciation of the divine name. Those who came up with this spelling/pronunciation did so from a misunderstanding of the Hebrew tetragrammaton "YHWH," as it appears in the OT text. The rendering of YHWH as "Yahweh" is much closer to the actual Hebrew name of God.

I must admit, although that is His Name as written in several sections of His Word, I have to think about writing it here because of the judgement of the readers that will associate it with the cult and get some very unrelated answers

What matter is there in a different Biblical name? Are we so caught up in what we are used to that we inadvertently condemn another?
This is one of the things that causes so much hate between Christians.

No problem if you know that Jehovah was born in a manger 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem of Judea; and that the name that God has now chosen for Himself, to put all things in subjection to, is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus was God made manifest in the flesh as the Son and is the same Jesus made manifest today as the Holy Spirit; just as He made himself manifest to St. Paul on the road to Damascus.
