Why is the Book of Mormon not in the King James version of the Holy Bible?

The founder of the Mormons one is named Joseph Smith, resulting from a family obscure and born on December 23, 1805, in Sharon, county of Windsor, in the State de Vermont.

All the life of this man, as of his youth, was marked by fanaticism, cheating and vice.

More than fifty people, to good reputation and estimable under all the reports/ratios, which knew it in Palmyre, in the State of New York, where it had been established with its family, testified, under oath, that Joseph Smith was looked like a man without character moral and devoted to vicious practices.
In 1820, Smith had embraced the methodism.
In April of the same year, it claimed to have had a revelation of the Sky, while it was occupied requesting in wood.
It says that God the Father and Jesus-Christ his Son had appeared to him, and had declared to him that its sins were given, that God had chosen it to restore his kingdom on the ground and to propagate the truth of the Gospel again, that entire Christianity had lost.
In 1825, Smith, forgetting his revelations as well as his alleged divine mission, devoted itself again, as it had done formerly, with the blasphemies, the fraud, drink and all kinds of defects.
Then, he says, an angel appeared to him and revealed the existence of a book, written on plates of gold and containing the history of the former inhabitants of America.

The next day, Smith went to visit the place where the angel had said to him that it would find the book; it was on the slope of a hill, between Palmyre and Manchester.
It claimed y to have found, indeed, of the gold plates contained in a stone box; but this time it in vain tried to remove them.
It there had, says it, a large combat between the demon and the angels about it; but, though the demon was beaten, the angel did not give the book to Smith, which accepted it later only four years, on September 22, 1827.
The book of Mormon is a web of contradictions, quotations and inventions absurd.

It is even proven that the part given as historical is only one plagiarism of a novel of Solomon Spalding, whose Joseph Smith would have stolen the manuscript.
Spalding had written, under the title of Manuscript found, a novel on the origin of the savages of America.
It died before to have published it.
After his death, its widow came to be established in the State of New York, and it is known that Smith worked sometimes in the vicinity of his house.
Some time after the publication of the book of Mormon, she realized that the manuscript of her husband had disappeared.

Several of nearest relatives and friends of Spalding recognized the Manuscript found there, slightly changed.

Spalding had had the habit to read long extracts of its novel to them; the singularity of the facts, the names, of the style, which was an imitation of that of the Writing, had struck them so much that they did not forget it.
However, the book of Mormon had the same characters, the same strange names, the same incredible facts, the same style.
John Spalding, brother of the author, express themselves thus on this question: “The book of my brother had as a title the found Manuscript. It was a historical novel on the first inhabitants of America.
The purpose of it was to show that the Indians of America were the descendants of the Jews or the lost Tribes.

It was given there a detailed description of their voyage per ground and sea, since their departure of Jerusalem until their arrival in America, under the orders of Nephi and Lehi…

I recently read the book of Mormon. With my great surprise, I found about, the same historical matters, the same names, etc, such as they were in the writings of my brother.

The book of Mormon probably draws his name from one of the chapters of this novel.
A descendant of Lehi obtained the plates of gold, bronze, etc, on which the prophets had engraved the history of the voyages and the wars of their race, and this descendant was called Mormon.
It made a summary of this history and gave it to his son Moroni.
This one having added a summary of the history of Jared, contained the whole in a box, which it buried on a hill, year 400 of our era.
Smith, being selected to give to the world this marvellous book, claimed to have received the gift to include/understand it and to translate it.
It did not write this translation itself, but it dictated it.
During the dictation, it hid behind a made curtain of a cover of bed, because the plates were crowned so much, that it was not allowed its secretary to even contemplate them.
To give an idea even higher of its gold Bible, it explained the title with its manner.
According to him, you word Mormon comes from the Egyptian word which mean good, and from the English word more, which means more; so that Mormon means literally better.
However, the Bible, known as Smith, in his widest significance, means good, since the Saver said in the Gospel, according to St John: “I am the good Pastor. ”
The fanatic people and ignorant believe in all these fables.

The book of Mormon, though known best, is not the main thing of the religious books of the sect: the book of the Lesson and Alliances, containing some of the revelations that Smith claimed to have obtained by the Sky, is looked at, by its disciples, as the book of the law that God gave to this generation.
Smith still published other revelations, which are contained in a small book called the Pearl of great value.
Most of the doctrines of Smith is only one repetition of works of various sects Protestant women.
He allowed polygamy.
All that, its successor still added abominable doctrines on the nature and the attributes of God.
Smith organized his new religion in 1830. It did not count whereas six disciples.
The following year, having obtained new members, it sent Old both to two to preach the new doctrines.
When the number of its disciples had become rather considerable, it establishes a colony in Missouri of it; but their control determined the inhabitants of this State, initially those of the surroundings of Independence, where the Mormons had been established initially, and then those of the surroundings of the town of Liberty, to drive out them of their territory.
In 1834, the Mormon sect adopted the pompous title of Church of Jesus-Christ of the Saints of the last days, and from there the Mormons were called the Saints of the last days, or simply the Saints.
Smith and his followers, having received, in 1839, a great ground extent of the State of Illinois, in a beautiful locality on the edges of the large Mississippi river, built there the flourishing city which they called Nauvoo, there built a splendid temple; there remain only the ruins today, and lived there until 1844, when again they went odious to the inhabitants of this State.
They were thus attacked by an unrestrained multitude, and the so-called prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were assassinated in the prison of Carthage.

They are different books. They aren't even written by the same people. The bible was written by all the prophets in that part of the world.The Book of Mormon was written by people in the Americas. Think about how many other parts of the world there are. Don't you think that someone would write about life somewhere other then the middle east? There are probably other writings out there that haven't been found yet. Maybe they will also be considered scripture by the people who find them.

Also, there was no bible before King James petitioned for one. After that, it was only used by the priests. No body but a priest owned a copy. Most people at the time couldn't read, so there was no point for them to have one anyway. They just had to go by what the priests said. Before the bible was compiled as the KJV, only priests who knew the languages the bible was written in could read it. They would then translate it to what ever language they spoke. Don't you think some of the meaning could have been lost from that? What about the people who couldn't read, or who didn't have a copy? Where they really Christians? They didn't have the bible.

The BoM isn't an addition to the bible. It is another testament of Jesus Christ, written by people who lived in a different place then Christ. Nothing was taken out of the bible for it, and nothing was added.

I think the mormon religion is much different from other Christian denominations.To add the book of mormon to the bible would change things in many other denominations. And oh yeah like someone else said the book of mormon (i think) was made like 200 years after the King James Version

The Bible was canonized several hundred years after Christ. Interesting that none of the early Christians even had the Bible. How could they possibly be Christians without the Bible???

The Book of Mormon was canonized by someone named "Mormon" in the Americas (possibly southern Mexico) and then placed in the Ground for about 1400 years.

Seeing as how the people who canonized the Bible didn't even know the AMERICAS existed, it would have been difficult for them to include the Book of Mormon into their collection of Holy Books.

So....If you take the Binding off your Bible, separate each book, and then have them all together, are the words any less holy???

Some interesting answers here.

The simplest explanation: The one given that states (roughly) that the Book of Mormon (BOM) was not printed until 1830, several centuries after the King James Bible (1611) (KJV).

The longer explanation: However, you should also understand that the books included in the KJV were the same that had been included in bibles since the Latin Vulgate was first "published" around 400 C.E. The BOM was unknown before Joseph Smith wrote it in English and published it in 1830. Thus, the BOM is not accepted by the majority of Christian sects as part of "inspired" scripture. Indeed, most sects consider this book to be a forgery rather than a translation of an Egyptian text (as claimed by Joseph Smith).

Because they are each records of people on different continents...
The Bible contains history and events of people living in the east and the Book of Mormon is the record of people during about the same time period that lived on the American continent.
Just so you know, Mormons use both books as scripture.

The book of Mormon is totally other book of the inhabitants of the new world from 600 to 430 ad. Both books the bible and book of Mormon are testaments of Jesus Christ.

Its actually not in any translationof the bible. the bible is a collection of writings from the jewish nation in Israel and around. The book of Mormon is supposedly a book translated from tablets that Joseph Smith was guided to which were buried in the ground in America. Apples and Oranges.

Because the golden plates were hidden until Joseph Smith found them in the 1800's almost 300 years after the king james version was written. At least that is what they believe any way.
