Do you get more of a sense of self worth from supposing you evolved from some primordial ooze? Are you after all, just a "little squirt" ?
I for one am glad to know I have such noble origins

Adam was a perfect son of God, made in His ‘image and likeness.’ But since “God is a Spirit,” the resemblance could not be physical. (Genesis 1:26; John 4:24) The likeness lay in qualities that elevated man far above the animals. Yes, implanted in man from the beginning were the qualities of love, wisdom, power, and justice. He was endowed with free will and a capacity for spirituality. An innate moral sense, or conscience, enabled him to distinguish right from wrong. Man had intellectual capacity, enabling him to meditate on the reason for the existence of humans, to accumulate knowledge of his Creator, and to develop intimacy with that One. Thus equipped, Adam had all he needed to fulfill his role as administrator of God’s earthly handiwork.
Not Divine on Earth
The Scriptures make it clear that Jesus was entirely human from his birth until his death. John did not say that the Word was merely clothed with flesh. He “became flesh” and was not part flesh and part God. If Jesus had been human and divine at the same time, it could not have been said that he had been “made a little lower than angels.”—Hebrews 2:9; Psalm 8:4, 5.

So tell me.. exactly WHAT does it mean to you that " We are made in the Image and Likeness of God".. What do you understand by this statement.
For me.. being made in His image means like you said.. No I am not an animal.. No i don't believe that we evolved out of an animal.
We are God's Kind and this is a real blessing. God is Spirit and He made man with a spirit within him. This is truly a deep matter and even trancends issues like not being an animal or evolving. Being made In God's image is to have a way to contain this God and to express This God. If you do not have a " receiver " in your being then God Who is Spirit has no way to be one with you.:)
In this whole universe with all the billions of things in space and even on the earth there is only One place that God can indwell.. in all of creation.. and that place is in man's spirit .. which is made in the Image of God.
Great Q you know:)

No! No!
They meant to say that God was created in the image of Mesopotamians, you know those people from the 6,000 year ago Middle East, who looked like Osama Bin Laden.
Yeah! That's what they said but not what modern true believers would have you think.

Man WAS created in the image of God.
BUT HE LOST THAT PRESTINE IMAGE when he rebelled against God.
Haven't you ever wondered WHY you can't always be good? Why you hurt people and make mistakes that hurt yourself?
That image is corrupted. And man, in his wisdom, has no answer why we can't be educated back to being good to people and to the earth.
The image is being restored only to those who are born again of the same Spirit who created us. And most Christians have a long way to go.

Lets get "real" here for a moment. The image and likeness of God is not mortal flesh, but spiritual truth. Mortal thoughts will argue against this forever, but the truth does not change to accommodate mortal seeming evidences.

God is infinite, and those images know no bounds, But we also are born with a nature that wars against our image of God. Which image do you choose to exercise? When one grows the other fades. That is your fate.

you know..no offense to everyone on here that isnt Christian, but people, christians are people, just more spiritual and holy. Ok, to make this more simple, a bunch of people say you know, that like Christ followers never sin, or always have to do good, or quote scripture all the time. Yes, there are many Believers like that and I do admire them, but not everyone is like that. God DID create us in his image. Not physically, but spiritually..Lots of people waste that privelage, and you know, they lost something that can never be replaced..God
