depending on if your guests are in your town or not, and if they can make it. If so, at least 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding cause you dont wanna be burned out either! Try to avoid anything too close to a holiday (like right after New Year's) cause folks may be strapped for cash. Have fun!!

Why are you, the Bride, being consulted about when to have your Bridal Shower? Are you a flight attendant? A traveling saleswoman who is out of town a lot? Are you in the military?
A bridal shower is supposed to be a surprise.
A bridal shower is traditionally planned, organized, and hosted by a friend (or friends) of the Bride. Neither the Bride nor the Bride's or Groom's immediate family members should "host" the shower. Why? Because it is a form of solication and inappropriate.
And in answer to your question . . a shower should be scheduled "at least six weeks before your wedding date."

Depending on the date in March.... the end of January or the beginning of February. Don't make it too close to the wedding.

YOU should not be planning when the bridal shower is.
Your bridal party and parents should be planning on when it should be.
It could happen in February.

Whenever someone throws it for you! Usually at least a month before the wedding, not closer.

customarily, your maid/matron of honor should be asking this question. you can advise her to look on the internet for shower info. there are thousands of sites out there. but any way, from my experience about 1-2 months should be good
