What events led to Lee's surrender? Why do you think Lee chose to surrender rather than to countinue fighting?

Lee was Whipped, so he surrendered!! Simple!

Lee lost too many battles. Johnston was doing nothing but a rear guard action as Sherman and gang marched to the sea. Lee had no where to go, the war was lost. Southern government was is disarray. Why not surrender?

Lee Surrendered rather than fight a losing battle which would have sacrficed good men for no reason.

not only because of the losses,his army was too weak to go on,disease was setting in on his army, the economy of the south was wrecked,atlanta and new orleans in ruins so no help from any country and he did not want o go down as a bitter general, but a gentleman

Exhausted troops, no supplies, outmaneuvered, out generaled.

Lee was a very interesting and noble man, but not a very good General. He was impulsive and not logistically skillful by all accounts.
