Practically, nothing. On a more limited basis, a street is normally confined to an urban area while a road goes some place. In Dallas, for example, Preston Road, which runs through the urban area but it also extends dozens of miles and was the road to the river crossing into Oklahoma built by a guy named Preston. Abrams Road once ran between two villages.

The terms may frequently apply to exactly the same thing. However, 'road' is a general term, whereas 'street' is narrower in sense and chiefly urban in application: a street typically has buildings on either side, and is paved or metalled.
