No. Go to the doctor.

I've taken cephalexin, or keflex, before. I think it was for my skin. Different antibiotics are best for different things, and sometimes the current thinking can change as germs become resitent.

Your best bet is to go to the doctor, so they can see what's wrong with you. Plus you can't take meds that aren't prescribed to you. And iluvtorofl made a good point (that I didn't know) about dog meds not being as strictly checked.

Plus, what about the dosage? Your dog and you won't need the same dose. You need the doc to get dosage right.

Yes. All the Cephelexin caps that our shelter uses is actually labled for human use, not dog use.

Do you know that dosage for humans???

I have taken it several times following a cat bite or scratch that was getting infected. Beats having to get into the doctor all the time.

You need to talk to your doctor. This antibiotic might not be the best choice for whatever is wrong. And you should never have left over antibiotics. Your pet should have taken his full required dose, other wise you could be causing antibiotic resistance. Talk to your doctor before starting any antibiotics.

Why do you want to know this? Have you run out of your other drugs? Maybe you should go see a doctor instead of asking questions here in the dog forum.

If you mean cephalexin, the antibiotic, it is safe for human use but not very strong. However, I don't think it is ever wise to take a medicine your doctor has not prescribed you.

I think you meant CephalxiN.. It is the SAME antibiotic that people take. There is no difference. The thing is that it depends on what you are wanting to take it for. Antibiotics are not all created equal.
Check out the site and see if it applies to what you need it for.

It is the same as Keflex. But remember dog meds are not oked for humans nor are they controlled as strictly. They won't be as high quality as human drugs. And it is illegal to take prescription drugs not prescribed for you.
