Since each side has a northern exposure, that would mean he's in the south pole. The only bears there are polar bears, which are white. White is the correct answer.

Polar bears are only at the North pole, so the house would have to have a Southern exposure on all four sides. Google it and you will see. But to answer your question, if stated correctly, the bear would be White.

something not right here , if his house is on the south pole , there would be [penguins NOT bears , the correct riddle would be

a man builds a house facing south , a bear passes , What colour is the bear?

Then the answer would be White , as Polar bears live in the north ( Arctic , Greek word for Bear )

south pole is ANTARCTIC ( Greek word for No bears )

the house would be on the south pole or antartica, and there are no bears there, just penguins....

hmmm, if each wall had a southern exposure though, they would be looking at those cute dangerous polar bears though....

translucent.

A polar Bear's hair is hollow and translucent, but usually appears as white or cream colored, thus providing the animal with effective camouflage. Its skin is actually black in color.
