Thats kindof hard to answer. I took some courses from them years ago. Better Communications and one for Better Studying. Great stuff. I still use it every day.
But as far as beliefs I didnt see much. I went to some of their Sunday services. Very generic stuff wishing good thoughts for people going thru disasters, asking for canned goods, clothing, help with disaster teams.
Apparently there are some weird beliefs but according to the posts I keep seeing "they are known only to the people at the top" so Im guessing that 99% of the scientologists are like me and only know of that stuff because people keep posting it here. :) Supposedly its something about locking up some evil god and working to free ourselves of "evil spirits".

It gets pretty weird. Short answer: They believe that all the bad experiences you've ever had are stored in your psyche somewhere and cause illnesses, depression, etc. They're called "engrams." They think that through *incredibly expensive* counseling sessions called "auditing," which uses some tin cans and a galvanometer, you can release these bad memories and become perfect in every way - called "clear." You'll have a perfect memory, be completely happy, have perfect vision, never get sick, etc etc etc.
If that doesn't work (and it hasn't yet) you go on to the REALLY weird stuff. The short story on that is that millions of years ago an evil space emperor blew up some aliens in a volcano on our planet. The spirits of the aliens float around and attach themselves to us. They're called "thetans." They also are responsible for illness, etc. With even MORE incredibly expensive courses, you can get rid of them. One of the courses is on a boat. No lie. I can tell you from person experience that the people who actually do rise through the levels of OT (as this part of Scientology is called) get kinda... weird.

They believe aliens from outer space are living among us, and are working side by side with our military to ensure our survival, because America is the only nation on earth worth their time. (Or so the scientologists say)
