I'm 21, I'm not old fashioned by any means, but I agree with your parents. They are doing the responsible thing. That place in their mind, is not safe for you to be at alone. They are being reasonable- they could say youre flat out not going! I would try to arrange a different place to meet this guy. A place they are willing to let you go without supervision- then they are both happy. Do it a different time though, or they are going to think you're going to sneak off and go to the haunted house without them.

You have to understand the position of parents, in todays world you have people disappearing left and right there is no security. It's only a protection thing not exactly a trust issue. If you are mature in your decisions and you can prove that to them I believe that they will have a change of heart, but if you have been making irresponsible decisions and leading a life of manipulation in their eyes they do have every right to be concerned. Just sit down and explain that you can handle this situation and make a pact that you will respect the rules and conditions if they'll let you go.

Tell him the truth. Just tell him there is a boy there that you like and you have been looking forward to meeting him. And ask your dad to be nice to him. If you ask your dad not to go make sure you tell him why or esle you will hurt his feelings.

well if your friends dad is also going to be there, just let him come. plus, please understand that you will regret those moments of not being with your dad. I always wanted a dad that would enjoy being around me, but no my dad likes to ignore me. So why is bad to have your dad around? It sounds like you two have a good relationship because they care about your safety, and your worried about hurting his feelings. Don't ruin that. Trust me its not uncool to be with your dad. Wow, that reminds me of a this concert that i went to with my friends, we all have pretty shi t t y relationships with our fathers, and this one kid we knew, who everyone classified as a 'dork' , was with there with his dad. And even though we never admitted it, we were so jealous. I could see my friends looking at them with this sorrowful expression. Its not uncool. And if your friends think so. They are stupid.
