Sit down in a quiet room, and start to Pray, Invite Jesus Christ to come into your life, Confess that Jesus Christ went to the cross for your sins, Ask The Lord to forgive you of all of your sins, Repent, turn away from them, and ask The Holy Spirit to come into your heart, you need to admit that you cannot do it alone, And ask for The Lord to guide you, then you will be close to God.

It's just like drawing close to anyone else. You first have to spend time with them and get to know them. You can get to know God by reading the Bible and meditaing on it. The Bible clearly points out God's qualitites and even provides examples of how He manifests such qualities. The Bible also explains to you what God requires and how He likes to be worshipped. Along with reading and meditating on what the Bible says, which is God's Word, you also have to make application of what you read. You should pray also because communication is a key factor in developing a relationship with someone. When you pray, let God know that you want to draw close to Him and get to know Him and worship Him the right way. Above anything else, your actions will prove if you really want to draw close to God. And the Bible says that if you draw close to God, then He will draw close to you. And if you search for God, He will let Himself be found.

James 4:8 Draw close to God, and he will draw close to YOU.

One way you can do that is pray to Jehovah God through Jesus Christ.

Jesus taught us to pray to his Father Jehovah. Ask Jehovah to open your heart to the truth and tell Him you want to draw close to Him.

Read the Bible.

To draw close to God you have to make an effort to believe in him and trust his words. You should pray regularly and read the scriptures daily. Going to church is also a great way to draw nearer to God. Good luck.

Love Him ... trust Him ... talk to Him. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, you don't need to think of anything to say ... just start off making conversation as though you are speaking to one of your good friends. Believe that He is there - just in front of you - and it becomes easier! You may want to start by reading your Bible ... or you might begin (become inspired) to pick it up after you've been talking to God for a while.

If you ever start to wonder if He's listening ... it's normal. Don't worry though ... He is! And He'll make it apparent to you at some point in time.

I am not an especially spiritual person, and not a Christian, but I will answer this question for you.

Most people think you get close to God by talking--praying, 'witnessing', professing your faith, etc. etc. But throughout history, people have gotten close to God by shutting up and listening! This is why people go out in the wilderness to be alone, just to be quiet so they can hear the weak signals. Mohammed did it. Siddartha (the Buddha) did it. And Jesus did it. And if you read the ideas of these three people, I think it's truly amazing how much of what they learned was the same!

Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and you will be born again. Then you will receive the Holy Spirit. That's about as close as you can get! God Bless
