You certainly need "photographic ID". Easyjet have a reputation for being "sticky", so they may well refuse an out-of-date passport on the grounds that the photo will also be of a younger "you".
If your driver's licence is the modern type with photo, and not too old, it should be OK, but I would ask Easyjet beforehand.

You don’t need a passport for internal flights, only a recognised form of ID, i.e. driving licence .... p.s. considering your child's age, its not worth getting a separate passport as they grow very quickly and look different in couple of years that you may have to get another one ....

You don't' need a passport to travel within the British Isles as they are all considered Domestic...and YES...Even into Eire.
They recommend that you carry photographic I.D..like a student card or driver's licence.
If you go onto their website, they have a list of documents that they accept.
I Fly into Dublin regularly from Glasgow....and have used both Ryanair and Aer Lingus. I've always had my passport but others i've travelled with haven't.....and they've always been allowed to travel.

Airports need proof of identity to travel from England to Scotland.
It is wise to have a passport, but not essential if you have other ID.
If it was me I would phone them beforehand.
