Atheists don't have a religion...that's why we are Atheists.
"About 15 billion years ago a tremendous explosion started the expansion of the universe. This explosion is known as the Big Bang. At the point of this event all of the matter and energy of space was contained at one point" .... Do you want me to continue?

I'm not Atheist but they say that the big bang which was an infinitely hot and tiny point in space exploded and lots of hydrogen came out. The hydrogen was formed into stars which then burned for a while and they exploded and released star dust which formed into rocks and planets. Then on one of the planets a pile of chemicals touched and formed the first protein. More were made and eventually became a simple single celled organism that divided and soon there were many of them. They slightly changed over time and they adapted to their environments and soon some of them began eating each other so they evolved over long periods of time and formed gradually more complex organisms. They lived differently and continued to evolve and soon there were many different organisms. Then a comet came hit the earth and wiped out the dinosaurs and the rats started to rule the world. The small mammal like creatures branched out in species over time like everything else and the world came to be how it is. That is the basic summary.

I'm an atheist and I do have a religion. My religion does not believe anything about how life was created, though. Instead, we rely on rational thinking and science as a way to find truthes about the natural world. Such thought process leads us to accept that life on Earth evolved through natural selection.
Nobody knows how the first life forms came about but the most likely explanation starts with simple self-replicating molecules such as RNA. As these molecules randomly changed, any changes that resulted in faster replicating molecules became more plentiful. Eventually, these self-replicating molecules became more and more complex bundles of molecules, assembled proteins, accumulated lipid shells and became the first simple cells.
My religion doesn't tell me this but my religion supports the use of reason and evidence to find truths in nature and that description fits the data best.

atheism isn't a religion bone-head.
its not based on faith its based on logic, analysis and gathering evidence.
unlike religion athiesm is not afraid to say "I don't know" or "we don't know yet" because we are not pretending or claiming that we have all the answers.
in order to get converts with a religion, you need to claim to have something better or more than the other religions. athiesm is not a religion it is the belief that all religions are full of it because they have not and have no intention of doing any form of rational testing to present any form of rational evidence.
they want to create the answers, and try to make the approach fit into thier frame, when it doesn't then it is a "sin" to mention or show those things that don't support thier predetermined- made up conclusion.
the proper approach is the athiesm one where you gather the evidence, then make a determination.
if the police acted on "just picking someone at random out of the crowd" then trying to fit the evidence to them for a crime that was comitted, they will always have the wrong person.
as opposed to gathering evidence, then finding a suspect that was led to by that evidence.

There was an experiment done in the 80's of how earth was like when it was young. They got rid of everything not like past earth in a tube and put the ingredients in, keeping it closed (for 1 week) so it was exactly like young earth. amino acids were formed, which are the building blocks of the building blocks of life. I wonder what would of happened in a year, maybe bacteria would form or simple organisms.

Make mine a dry gin martini.
Atheism is not a religion.
Science is not a religion.
Biogenesis and evolution of species are different problems.
Biogenesis is not well understood. There are a number of theories, none of which is very well accepted. This does not necessarily mean a god did it. It is not necessary to have answers to every question.

Atheism isn't a religion. It's the lack of one. Evolution is about how all life became as varied as it is, from oak trees to bumble bees. There are a dozen or so ideas about how life got started here on Earth. We'll probably see a conclusive theory before too long.

First of all, don't refer to atheism as a religion.
But anyways, reactions in the atmosphere created the first living cells. This actually happened. After a scientific reaction, non-living elements created a basic, living cell. I wasn't around when it happened, so I can only speculate, but really that's the only thing that makes sense.
After that, evolution happened.

Your guess is as good as mine. I don't have a problem with you believing in a creator. I have a problem with morons who insist on a literal interpretation of Genesis or any other creation myth. We know that the Earth and the Universe weren't created 6,000 years ago. Anybody who thinks they were is a kook.

Go read a science book.
Windona refers to the experiments of Sidney Fox. Pope John Paul II was so interested he invited Fox to the Vatican.

Religion is a belief system in the supernatural with certain rituals and dogma.
Science is not.
Abiogenesis basically says that the organic soup that was here for a few hundred million years with energy coming in from various scources eventually formed life. Also amino acids have been found in orbit around other planets. Whether they are from here, or ours are from there, or neither, we don't know yet.
