Would this be true?

It said that they are generally oxbridge graduates and have joined as managers and they join the top banks in London. Still three hundred thousand quid salary within 3 years after leaving uni sounds a lot. Would this be true?

No, this isn't true, even though some bank jobs are very well paid, they wouldn't get that on salary.

Some people in the city are earning this much, but it comes from performance related bonuses, its not salary, and as such its not guaranteed. It comes down to how well they work the stock markets, and also an awful lot of luck! Theres a big difference between salaried pay, and bonuses which they may never be able to repeat.

It also comes as a cost, its extremely stressful, and very long hours. A lot of these types end up burning themselves out, and can't cope with the pressure!

Yes, if they are in a foreign bank's trading division (most lilkely Currency Trading) and received a massive bonus .. but this is on par with winning the Lottery (or becoming a Man. U. footballer or top models/actors etc.)

Almost guaranteed that anyone else who left Uni. at the same time & is now working will be very lucky to be on £30,000 ....

Three hundred thousand (that's £300,000 - you have a FEW too many noughts!)
That's highly unlikely - Managers of big banks TEND to be people with lots of experience - not generally people straight out of uni!

think someone's telling little porkies, big banks in London prefer experience and a recent graduate isn't going to get a 300k salary within 3 years...

I think someone's yanking your chain.

I work in a bank, one of the more prestigious ones too, so you would expect salaries to be higher. I am also a graduate and in quite a specialised field and I can promise you my salary is nowhere near that.
