If Christianity came from Judaism and if Mormonism (the Church of Latter Day Saints) came from Christianity, why don't all Christians accept that other apostles wrote more books of the Bible? If Christianity can believe that a virgin gave birth to their lord and savior, I don't understand why they are resistant to the idea that there's more to the story?

Yeah CJ, that's great, but... the Bible also has some contradictions.
He is the Shepherd. His sheep do not follow after other shepherds. John 10:27 " My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"
The Mormons are not following anyone, but JESUS. How can you invalidate them when they clearly believe all that other Christians believe and then some? Also, what about the other books of the Bible that weren't included? Do you know the history of the Bible or are you talking out of your butt?

(to CJ) The Bible also says that it is the inspired word of God, as if it came from God himself. And yet there are discrepancies inspite of this claim.

(to: the violator) People said the very same thing about Moses, and all of Jesus' apostles. You've accepted their word, but not Joseph Smith's? And why would you make up a lie about Joseph Smith like that? You lied in an attempt to discredit him, but you don't KNOW that for sure that he isn't one of God's disciples, do you?

(to spencer) I do not fully agree with you, but am very impressed with your argument. There are some flaws that you did not address, so based on that I had to choose:

What you are dealing with is just another manifestation of " 'Its our way, there IS no other way" Religious intolerance springs from insecurity, that need to be "RIGHT", and to admit that there could be something beyond what you initially accepted hits a psychological trigger in mankind that has caused some of the most horrific, genocidal acts on this planet, and does to this day. What you are asking them to do is STEP BEYOND their "faith", and that takes too much courage for the vast majority of them.

While I will not argue that Christianity came from Judaism. I will argue that Mormonism came from Christianity. That particular "book" is a slap in the face of God.
Having said this I will say I do believe other letters were written by disciples. Any one that reads the NT can see where it mentions other letters. But, either the time is not right or they were not important enough for God to preserve them for us. If you look at both thoughts you get an idea that perhaps one day a new letter will surface and we will have to be brave enough to add it to the cannon of scripture or what if one surfaces that was meant to test us and we are to preserve what has already been established. Also, if God did not want others to surface it is amazing that no records have yet been found.

There Is a differnce between Faith and Foolishness---No where in the Bible will You find that Jesus and the devil are Brothers. The Lost Books were not added nor was the Apocrapha and neither should anything else. Nothing in the Book of Mormon can be validated. Revelation Chapter 22 is a clear Warning for adding to the Scriptures that are already complete.

Oh I see what you're talking about. No, I don't accept the books of Mormonism as scripture, and the reason is, the exact same verse that you quoted. I picked up a book of Mormon once, before I ever began bible study, read some of it and put it down. I did not hear God's voice.
Many years later in bible study I came across that exact scripture, Jesus said, "my sheep know my voice, they will not follow the voice of a stranger". I recognized what I had discerned when reading the book of Mormon...it was a stranger's voice.
The fact that Mormons cannot discern between the book of mormon...and the bible....tells me they are not His sheep.

It's because scripture, the very thing by which we know Jesus Christ/God says this specifically...it is by no coincidence. This was of course meant for the church that the letter was specifically written to, and as scripture is for our benefit, to teach us what we are to do and how we are to live. This is how we know false teachings, because they change or alter the Gospel of Christ.
Galatians 1:6-9
"6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!"
Notice this was reiterated...stated Twice...to make it perfectly clear.
Gospel means "good news." If anyone changes the good news, or adds to it, or takes away from it, they sin.
Deuteronomy 12:32
"32 See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it."
Non-believers like to point to this and say then how is there a New Testament...and this is because Jesus didn't change the Law, He fulfilled it. He paid the penalty of the law for us, thereby removing our bonds to it. We who have Christ live free from condemnation by the Grace of God. We are to live according to the Law in Spirit and in Truth out of Love, but our sins have been forgiven because of our faith in Christ, for His benefit God forgives us and makes us clean and gives us eternal life, not for anything we can do to earn it, and we certainly do not deserve it.
The angle "Moroni" supposedly came to Joseph Smith...an "angel" preaching a different testament with different laws, different mandates...a different "gospel" of Christ.
Not to mention that the Smithsonian did a study of the claims of Mormonism regarding America and came to the conclusion that there is "no" evidence to support this book of mormon, whereas the Holy Bible has innumerable evidences.
Take Care and God Bless!

I am Christian and I am not resistant to the idea that Jesus did more than was written in the bible. The bible even references this. However, I was presented with the Mormon beliefs, and I dont believe in most of it. If GOD wants me to believe it, I'm sure he will change me.

Simple, take a story your know well, like Romeo and Juliet, and then see if you can tolerate additional chapters that assert that they were neither from the Capulet family, they were actually a Russian couple, they were brother and sister, they never met in real life, etc. You would know right away which chapters belong in the final product and which a bunk. If you know the story, you know what doesn't belong. ROMANS isn't in the Bible because Paul wrote it. It is in the Bible becasue it is 100% in accorde with every word of the Bible from Genesis to the Gospels.

Because Mormonism contradicts the truth of the Bible. If a person takes a leap of faith, that faith should be based on the truth of God's Word, not on some lying angel called "Moroni":
"If...an angel out of heaven were to declare to you as good news beyond what we declared to you as good news, let him be accursed" -Galatians 1:8

There may be more out there to the Bible, but it certainly wasn't from Joseph Smith and that can be proved FROM the Bible.
