Blood tastes salty because it is salty..

Sodium is another name for salt.
About 85% of the sodium in your body is found in blood and lymphatic fluid.
Sodium helps regulate fluid balance in your body and assist in the function of nerves and muscles. Too much or too little salt can cause health problems or even death.

What is the salinity, in parts per thousand (o/oo) of human blood? I heard it was the same as seawater (35o/oo). I learned this in university, but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the web. Does anybody know?

Odd question, but here is an odd answer. My girl friend almost always says that she craves salt (and chocolate) during her period and I have always wondered why. I always keep a can of fudge frosting in the fridge and salt the potatoes, fish or the meat to the maximum when I cook for her during these times. I think you have answered my question, maybe I have answered yours.
