I'm in a rough spot right now, I'm starting to open up about my BDSM tendencies and am in BDSM support groups to hlp me cope with them. It's very hard for me because the Church does not seem to have an official stance on BDSM and the many priests I have talked to don't even know what it is.

I would very much like to remain Catholic but don't know if the 2 worlds can co-exist. It's very hard because BDSM is still way to taboo and nobody really knows or wants to talk about it in the open. By the way, it's not as uncommon as most people think.

Is there any sources or info that i could go to to find other Catholics involved in the BDSM world or find anything on what the Church has to say about it?

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years that it is God's will that:
+ Single people should be celibate.
+ Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
+ Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control is against the will of God.

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

The Catholic Church does not have an official stance which types of sex are allowable when a man and woman are married as long as it is consensual and done in moderation.

The purpose of sex is to bring a husband and wife closer and to create human life.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 2337 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art6.htm#2337

With love in Christ.

you are able to desire to attempt conversing to a clergyman lower back and flow in be attentive to-how which you are going to could desire to describe what BDSM is and what questions you have approximately being Catholic on an identical time being in contact in BDSM. I think of there'll be some counseling to desert BDSM for numerous motives which will finally be mentioned are according to Church teachings (i'm a cradle Catholic, yet i'm no longer a Church pupil or into BDSM, so i'm purely going via what I experience the Church's reaction could be). yet according to possibility in case you're gentle adequate with being the two Catholic and into BDSM, you will no longer sense conflicted besides, and there is purely no longer an argument to handle. desire you the terrific.

Wow. Tough spot. I would say that your tendency to act out your fantasies in this way COULD (I am not your Father Confessor!) be an overt expression of the sin of lust. I'm sure it is.

Now - - if you are participating in this kind of thing as a lawfully married man with your wife (i.e. the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony) - - I don't think I'd have a problem with it .... but the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are clear about sex without the possibility of conception.

Chalk up just one more reason I have never "swum the Tiber"

Here is the answer you should expect from your parish: Sex is purely for the purpose of passing the faith! Not pleasure! Pleasure is a sin! It is the devil.

My advice, don't be open about BDSM to parish members. Keep it in your support group. I am sure the hippocracy will frown upon you with knowledge of this.
