The consensus of the world's scientists is that it's real, it's manmade, and it's urgent. Are you sure you know better?

I HAVE LOOKED at your statement from all angles and cannot find a question here only an opinion which would in yahoo terms would be classified as a rant ,and we all know that this is an offense that could be rewarded with a people pushing that damn report button .
it a good thing everybody is so tolerant in this category to even grace you with an answer .
I have never seen Al Gores movie ,but i HAVE seen plenty of evidence of Humans affecting big changes to the environment that must subsequently also have big effects on the local climates ,
If we change a forest into a dessert ,the climate sure has changed in that place ,and this has happened all over the world .
Check what is going on in Northern China ,Chiapas in Mexico ,Northern Africa ,northern South Africa ,Borneo ,Madagascar ,etc the list is endless.
Start looking at the real world out there instead of computer print outs on the net.

I don't understand this obsession with the Gore movie. I personally started worrying about climate change well before the film. Reading journals, various books, and research. I can't pinpoint which at this specific moment but I was concerned and convinced long before that film...which by the way I wasn't very impressed with. All my friends seemed to think it was wonderful, whereas I felt that not presenting any solutions, and traveling by plane and car to explain everything...was a bit iffy. Surely if you want to present a convincing arguement you'd at least try to be a good example...
so no this isn't just some "liberal bs" from al gore as Ive seen people rant about on here...this is scientific evidence and common sense...and personal experience...not everyone in this world switches on a television programme or watches a film and gobbles it all down..surely you can't be so naive to believe that.

What's the question?
That Al Gore's movie was "mostly false"??
I haven't seen the movie, but I have read extensively about the subject of global warming. The scientific community seems to agree that global warming is, indeed, a serious threat to our world - and that if we don't do something to change it within ten years, it will be too late.
Apparently you're either opposed to Al Gore's message because you disagree with his politics - OR because you are too lazy, arrogant, ignorant and greedy to do anything to help prevent this coming catastrophe. If you don't care enough about sacrificing your own lifestyle (like giving up your gas-guzzling Hummers and SUVs), then at least think about the future of your grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will almost certainly be affected by your squander and squalor. Or are you too selfish to even give any thought to your descendants? If you're just a kid - especially if you're just a kid - who hasn't even thought about starting a family some day, chances are that you will. How will you answer your darling little grandchild when you're asked, "What did you do to try to prevent global warming, Grandpa?" WHAT WILL YOUR ANSWER BE??? -RKO- 10/25/07

no the consensus is not that its cuased by us, but that the earrth is warming,
i know many scientist that say alot of his proof is open ended, and can easily turned around, now lets llok at it this way.
If we all admit here itsw getting hotter then yes we can get along on that and as long as there are some scientists that dont agree you cant judge somethjing becuase miracles do happen.
Did you know Japan was just 6 days away from dropping a abomb on hawiia when we dropped it on hrioshima?
No take this into consideration even if it were cuased by us then what are you going to do about it?
What i mean is, lets just guesstamate there are like 3 biollion people world wide(over 16). Now a majority of them drive gasoline powered vehicles dont they?
Now yeah hydrogen fuel good idea, but how are the people in other countries gunna get ahold of it? and what do we do with our gasoline powereed vehicles ands what about military vehicles? i mean lets get serious the really only way to combat it is to stop factories, and plus not everyone can afford a new hydorgen poqwered vheicle and what about the jobs in mining and selling oil and pumping gas i mean thats a lot of people.
We cant just get off it like that, and i know the green nuts wil be furious but lets think about?
Thats alot of money to make new jobs and face it we will see gasoline in ouyr lifetimes until it runs out or until we die its that simple.
I mean yes some people can drive hydrogen cars but for the lower middle class man with a truck who is a steel mill worker i mean come on. You think he can afford to sell his car (which noone will bbuy due to no longer production of gasoline), buy a new car and get new insurence.
All im saying is dont bash others for driving what they please. I personally drive a New Dodge Charger Daytona Go Man Go
with asround 400hp. I get around 15mpg but i enjoy my vehicle and you bought your vehicle becuase you enjoy it.

Actually it was proven to be mostly true.
A British court was asked to ban the film. They found that is was an excellent film, strongly supported by science.
In particular they found that it was proven that; global warming is real, mostly caused by us, a serious problem, and can be solved by us.
http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Admin/2007/2288.html#
The judge said: 'I have no doubt that Dr Stott, the Defendant's expert, is right when he says that:
"Al Gore's presentation of the causes and likely effects of climate change in the film was broadly accurate."'
The bottom line was that the lawsuit was denied:
"It is clear that the Defendant understandably formed the view that AIT was an outstanding film, and that schools should be enabled to show it to pupils."

I asked a question here the other day something like this:
"If you take the errors out of Gore's movie, what is the scariest prediction left that can be supported by the science?"
I never got a straight answer from anyone. Trevor said there were "hundreds" but he never gave me one.
Most of the warmers here do not want to know the facts. It is easier just to believe the movie.

The good scientists say there is no way to actually predict the climate changes even over the next few years. "There is no way a computer program could be that well made to actually include all the variables and make an accurate prediction on future climate changes"-The Scientific Journal

Actually the film was ruled to be mostly correct.
The judge said he had "no doubt" that the defendant's expert was "right when he says that: 'Al Gore's presentation of the causes and likely effects of climate change in the film was broadly accurate.'

But no, most people here do not rely on the film for scientific information. We read scientific papers, books, articles, etc. Where do you get your information - drug addict college dropout Rush Limbaugh?
