My cat (20 years old) all of a sudden started to pee and poop in a corner in my bedroom. She has never, never done this. Before this started my dog would go over to the same corner and start rubbing her body in that corner like she was getting high or something? Then I found a bunch of dead flying ants in this corner?!!! We moved into this house 3 weeks ago, and this just started. HELP!!!
WHat is going on!

It could be jealousy or even she might have a bladder infection. go to the Vet and have her checked out. Have you moved ? New place , she might is in stress? Watch her and keep record and then you will find out what is happening.

Flying ants are sometimes confused with termites. You probably ought to have someone check that out. On the other hand, if your dog AND cat have become attracted to that corner, then it could be that someone put down some poison for those ants and the smell is attracting the animals. Since you just moved there 3 wks ago, and your animals are acting so wierd, I think you should have them both checked out by a vet. As for another reason that your 20 yr old cat is peeing/pooping out of her litterpan, she could have developed a urinary tract infection, and is trying to let you know she needs to see a vet. Always better to be safe (go to vet) than sorry (animals get sick/die)!! Good luck.......

Since you just moved I bet the people before you also had a cat (or dog) That corner probably smells like the previuos pet (maybe it peed there?) Dogs will rub their noses/faces in other animals poops/pees.....your cat is trying to cover up the other animals smell with it's own.....
have you had your cat checked lately?....20 years is getting up there...she may also have some type of a bladder problem

Please, please have your vet check your cat for diabetes. I had a cat who suddenly started peeing on one area of my carpet. She was misdiagnosed with bladder irritation and this went on for months as we tried various medications. She was gradually losing weight, but she had been overweight so I was not initially concerned. One night I came home and found she had pooped on the carpet as well, and then she came out and was very unsteady on her feet. I rushed her to a different vet who had emergency hours and they found that her blood glucose level was so high that she was in diabetic ketoacidosis, which is very serious. They kept her at the vet's office for a couple days of insulin treatment, but on the third day she went into a seizure and died. If I had known that peeing/pooping outside the box can be a sign of a major medical problem in cats (not just a behavioral or bladder problem), I never would have gone so long without taking her to a different vet in the first place.

She is OLD lol She might not be able to find the litter box anymore or even climbing into it might be hard. Try placing the box in that corner for alittle bit. See if shes having trouble getting into it. If she starts using it again without trouble try moving it somewhere else, bleach the wall, scrub and use a deodorizer on the carpet.
