I've had two sessions of ovarian cysts. The first one I bled for three months with around a week's break every three weeks. There was no pain and by the time I was referred to a gynacologist the problem had corrected itself. The second time, I had no period for two months and (after sex) the cyst ruptured causing pain in the pelvic area.
You HAVE to get medical advice. If you do happen to have a cyst then infection can set in if you don't take some antibiotics. I was admitted to hospital and released the next day, but some pain still remained for about two weeks.
If you think you could have been pregnant, then the pain and bleeding should have stopped by now in a normal early-term miscarriage. Unfortunately not all miscarriages can be as straight forward and you may be required to be admitted for an 'elective abortion' which means cleaning out the womb of any foetal matter. I had to have this when a dead two-month old foetus refused to expel normally.
Bleeding and pain like this is not normal and you may have to expect a trip to hospital. Your husband should certainly not be trying to have sex with you and putting you risk at infection.

I've had 4 miscarriages, and yes it certainly could be. You didn't say how far along you are. This isn't a good sign at all, call the doctor ASAP.......My problem was severe Endometriosis, along with hundreds of some kind of cysts...no cancer. But, complete Hystrectomy resolved my pain and bleeding issues.

Being a Medical Assistant I suggest that you go to the ER , Bleeding for this long is not healthy. If you dont seek medical attention right away then you could cause problems later on. Please go to the ER this is not a good thing nor is it somethign you should wait to do.

Why haven't you gone to a doctor yet???
This was taken directly from a medical website.
"If the bleeding is light, making an appointment to see one's doctor is recommended. If bleeding is heavy, there is considerable pain, or there is a fever, then emergency medical attention should be sought."
Go to a doctor.

Probably not. However, bleeding for 5 weeks is NOT normal and requires a visit to the gynecologist.
