No matter what I do to show him that it is wrong he continues to do it. I don't know if it is something with the smell of them or what.

He is 8 months old and is neutered. He doesn't pee on my clothes but pees on my boyfriends so I figured he might not like him.

OK first is he/ she fixed? Second is the litter box cleaned? Some cats refuse to go in a dirty area and you should scoop it three times a day. Is he a single cat? If not he/she can be stressed which is causing him to pee. Is he fixed? if not then he is marking his territory. Does he have blood in his urine?

This happened with my cat and he didn't have any blood in his urine and never looked like he was straining to pee....until one day he couldn't. We took him to the vet and he had UTI. We now put him on a special diet (science diet for uti) and don't let him eat anything else. You can check yourself by touching his belly and gently pushing in to see if you feel anything swollen. If he does have UTI he can have flareups for no reason and he needs to go to the vet for medication and extreme cases to relax his bladder.

If you think it's the smell if the carpet(and just in case he got it)1/4 part regular white vinegar and 1 part water is good enough to remove the smell completely.

1. Make the mixture enough to fully cover the area
2. Fully soak the area to cover the pee area with the solution or rub it in for a couple minutes
3. Pat or rub dry with a towel.

Your spot will smell of vinegar for about 1/2 hr after but after its dried its like it never happened!

If he isn't neutered, that's probably your biggest problem. If he is, there are some things you can buy at a pet store to repel him from the stuff he usually pees on. They are usually liquid sprays though so you probably won't want to use them in most places (like on your clean clothes).

Honestly probably the best (and only sure way) to stop him is to make sure you don't leave that stuff lying around where he can get to it.

Also, you can try some different food. My mom had a cat that peed on EVERYTHING all the time (he was fixed) and she found that by feeding him this food for cats with urinary infections he stopped spraying. I believe the food she uses can only be recommended by a vet, but our local pet store carries you (you just have to ask). A vet or vet assistant should be able to recommend a good food for this.
This has completely solved the problem for her, but it will only work if your cat actually has a similar physical condition. Also her cat will still occassionally do it if he's upset about something (like drastic changes in furniture and stuff).

My cat did this suddenly, after never having a problem. We finally took him to the vet and lo and behold, he had a urinary tract infection! I felt so bad because I had been scolding him. Some antibiotics fixed him right up though. When he was quite old, he would sometimes fall back on his "bad" habit, but I just learned not to leave clean clothes laying around in baskets, or at least kept him away from them...it really CAN be frustrating though...good luck!

We have a squirt bottle filled with water that we use to squirt the cats when they're misbehaving.

Unfortunately, certain behaviors are hard to break. My cat loves to tear and crinkle plastic bags, for instance. the only solution we've found is to keep all bags locked in a cupboard. If the cat really won't stop you'll have to keep everything put away, out of kitty's reach.

First of all take him to the vet to make sure everything is OK with him. If it is then go to your local pet store and get a product that will make him stop peeing where you don't want him to. Also he might not like the kind of litter that you have for him, so try changing it to a different kind. Cat's do not like scented litter for the most part.

I used to have this same exact problem. the only way I could make him stop was to make sure that I had no plastic bags or clothes of any kind laying out in the open.

I actually liked that he used to do it; it's made me a cleaner person.

Well, you CAN put plastic bags into an empty litter box and keep the standard litter box for his poops. At least you'll have the fluids contained.

Is he fixxed? That normally stops them. Try some sticky tape on the bags and clean clothes they hate that stuff! ^^

keep your plastic bags (which they can also suffocate in) and clean clothes off the floor!
