It is illegal to buy a gun for someone else, it is called a "straw purchase" you are in deep sheit! Better call a lawyer, as you have commited a criminal act.

You do need a lawyer FAST! He can't do much, but he'll know how (maybe) to get the lightest punishment possible. You sure won't ever be buying another gun & better not get caught possessing one, even though you didn't do the shooting, it was still a Federal crime. If you bought it for someone else, you shoulda had the someone else give you a bill of sale within days & you coulda shown that you had sold it & therefore not responsible for it. ALWAYS cover your own butt, you helped the wrong dude, dude!

I am sorry for all the ridicule you are going through with the answers to your question. Now let me ask you a question. How Stupid are you!

It is people like you that make politicians and the anti-gun nuts to want to abolish our 2nd Amendment right. If stupid were a crime you would be doing life as it is you are probably looking at a $10,000.00 fine and/or ten years in prison.

No such luck, you are part of the case by it being originally purchased by you with the intent to deliver it to someone else.* I do not think you will be prosecuted severely for it however.* Check with your lawyer and he can explain it away in court.*

You can't. The gun is registered in your name and now you are responsible for consequences of it. That was stupid of you to do it. Unfortunately, you need to turn your friend in.

oooh if the gun was used in a shooting I don't think you can get your name off. even if it's not used in a shooting i don't believe there is any possible way to get your name off.
