Please, I have always wanted to know how it is some people just know exactly what people were thinking when they gave a thumbs down to their answer. From my understanding, the thumbs down is anonymous. Unless you are psychic, I don't see how anyone could know what that person's motivation was.
So WHY do people keep asking questions like "Why do people thumbs down just because they don't agree with you?"
HOW THE ---- DO YOU KNOW WHAT PEOPLE WERE THINKING WHEN THEY GAVE THE THUMBS DOWN?
H O W?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Oh, that's right, YOU DON'T. So enough with the whiny "Why did I get a thumbs down? Wah! Wah!" SERIOUSLY.

Please, I realize this is R&S, but let's try not to take such ginormous leaps of faith, kthnx.
Arguments are so much more credible when they have some real (not imagined) basis.

I think Yahoo should add a "middle finger" one, that way everyone would have a better understanding of how someone really feels.

Wow, I asked a simple question and pissed someone off. Sorry, but don't worry, just because their was no juice this morning doesn't mean tomorrow will be the same.
How will I know you'll thumb this response down? It was an insult but how how H O W did I know?
It's called logic and psychologically, look into it

I don't even understand why some people place so much stock on the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons to begin with.

I am cool with people not agreeing with me .... and can understand ( especially with my views ) why they would
what I dont understand is things like recieving thumbs down for getting a right answer to something
for instance the time I knew the answer to who sang a song
in the space of ten minutes I had like 12 thumbs down because it was a Manson song

People can tell a lot about you by your thumbs down and God knows even more by your q&as
By a thumbs down alone, you can tell if a person is a Christian, an atheist, a Muslim, whether or not they need psychiatric help, what their economic/social status is, whether or not they drink to excess, whether or not they're going to hell and the level of their education.
I don't want to make you paranoid but these things are self evident especially when you ask or answer what you only think could possibly be right or helpful.
So, you should be very very careful about giving thumbs down.

Feel better now?
And yes, we can know who is giving us thumbs down, maybe not always a specific person, but usually I know who specifically gave me a thumbs down. It all depends on the nature of the question.
O yes Linz, I saw it. lol.

i think that it should show the thumbs up and down just like they do with who stars.
i know it's not that big a deal...i have a thumbs down fairy that seems to follow me everywhere.
you know that it feels good when you get a thumbs up. at least it does to me. and pangel is right...it's weird to get a thumbs down for something that you know is right, or for a personal opinion. like `what's your favorite color?`.
it's not a big deal, but it can be annoying at times.
just my thoughts.

I'm just happy when somebody has actually read what I've written, regardless of thumbs up or down. As long as I've infested their mind, I'm all good. ;)

Good thoughts... I'll make a note.
Here's a goat. See if you can find a believer who wants to sacrifice it and give support to the reasonable ideas you've suggested.
