Do you greet and say goodbye to the employees, especially ones you have become friendly with?

Sure, especially if they greeted you and are friendly to you. Employees are people too. .

I dont think there are any hard and fast rules about this, but in a casual setting it wouldnt be improper to be courteous to the staff of the restaurant. It does depend on how busy they are, because carrying on any conversation takes time.

Of course, they are people too! You can treat them as you would anyone else, especially if you have become friendly with them. You will get better service too and no surprises in your food, ew!

If they are your friends, not saying hello and good-bye to them would probably hurt their feelings. Everyone appreciates being recognized and acknowledged -- yes, talk to your friends, but be quick about it ... you wouldn't want them to get into trouble!
