This question :evolution vs creation...are the people who don't appear to see scientific fact actually children.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsIrb9tmDat_gwZtexMIu.Tty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071025132413AAG87lD&show=7#profile-info-16k6X1NHaa

So what I mean is: are the answerers just young, brainwashed people who haven't experienced the world. Surely, no educated, worldy-wise adult can honestly dismiss evolution?

Is this a world wide belief or is it an American thing? What do you think and where are you from?

Very strange!!!!

Jeteon - read the question! Where do I mention dilusion? Where and how do I insult every religion? I never mentioned monkeys?

I asked a question because it concerns a view that I have no experience of! It seems a somewhat nieve view that's all! I am glad that you believe in evolution.

Best wishes!

Some people need their religion to keep them morally straight. That's ok, let them believe what they want. Because they can't see or understand what you do does not make them wackos. I agree that in a since many Christians are brainwashed to believe in certain aspects of their religion, but you nor I or anyone else have the right to call them wrong. If you read your history, it was religious persecution in your country that accelerated the settlement of this country. Hell with evolution, we can't do anything to change that anyway and it doesn't matter to our survival who believes in it. Lets work on getting them to believe in Global Warming. That's scary that these religious leaders have gotten most of them to reject that. And Global Warming will kill us. Stop being perplexed, you can do nothing to change their minds.

P.S. I'm a Christian, but not a traditional one. I believe in Evolution by Intelligent Design. In other words, God caused the evolution process and managed it.

Evolution is an accepted fact in every developed country in the entire world except for the United States. In a survey conducted in 2000, people (adults, too) from 42 different countries were asked if evolution actually happened. The United States scored 39th.

The United States are way behind other developed countries, scientifically. Religion plays a part.

I'm 39, I just answered in a childish way to a question that has been asked at least 15 times this week because I was bored with it

From what I understand, this is a particularly American problem. My family are still in the UK and they get a huge laugh when I try to explain creationism and the Kansas School Board

I think this is mostly an American phenomenon. Some people here choose to remain in ignorance rather than go through the difficult task of examining their core beliefs. Denial is a very real phenomenon. And yes... strange indeed.

Macro Evilootion IS Pseudo-science!
It is indoctrination.
It has so many holes in it - it's not even funny!
It is anti-science!

I have no problem with micro evolution.

Also, I don't really believe that Creationism OR
Macro Evolution need be taught in public schools.
They are both too dogmatic to be science
(the way they are being taught).
Evolution needs to be questioned more - science
is about questioning, is it not?

That is not childish.

Among English speakers, it's an American Protestant Evangelical thing. Catholics and members of the older, 'mainline' churches tend to accept evolution and analyze the Creation story in Genesis as metaphorical. I was surprised to learn that Creationism was nigh unheard-of in Britain.

I think those who do not favor evolution because they believe god did the whole creation thing ARE children. They need their FATHER to look after them even after they are "adults". They are also SHEEP who need to be led around because they cannot look after themselves. Personally, I think religion is a complete waste of time. Grow up, people. Think for yourselves.

They aren't all children, nor can we safely say that all who hold those beliefs mentally children, either. It seems to be common human nature to prefer beliefs impressed upon one in early life to those imposed by authorities later in life. (Not that there isn't evidence, but I think that most early science education is presented as the pronouncements of authority on the nature of things.)

Just so you know, you have just insulted every religion by saying we are deluded. I frankly agree with evolution, as does my religion (Islam) , HOWEVER, to say we came from monkeys is (IMHO) ludicrous, because if monkey's had evolved into humans, There would be no monkey's left, they'd all be human. Also, even that small change from monkey's to humans might not even be necessary. The idea is that animals evolved, but humanity was sent down in perfection. And thank you very much, I'm American.

It's an american thing. We love being the laughingstock of the world apparently. So we destroy our reputation and poorly educate our children
