I suppose the BIG difference is that Stalin said to himself "I'll kill anyone who gets in my way" and most American secular humanists either don't say that to themselves or if they do, they don't act on it.

But hey, that's probably the only significant divergence.

Stalin killed those who he did not agree with, and for those who disagreed with him. Kinda like what a certain group of religious zealots did when their religion finally got into power. And which they would probably be doing right now if the country would allow them to. (Guess which one it is...it's an Abraham religion, and it's not the first nor the last one created.) And a secular humanist just wants religion out of schools, government, etc. But I doubt will go to that extreme measure....

There is no fundamental difference. The moral foundation is to do what they feel like doing. What else can it be?

There is a wide spectrum of how people feel about things. Most people feel sympathy and empathy. Most people feel good when other people like them. Stalin was at the other end of the spectrum of feelings. Stalin more desired the feelings of power. Never the less, the principle is the same.
