you or someone else asks a question and the people who reply go on and on about their pet issues which have nothing to do with the question? As an example, someone asked about reincarnation past life experiences, and someone gave a diatribe about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Do you think these people are illiterate, stupid, or obnoxious?

lady: LOL, I'll give you that. I asked the question here because it is here I always seem to see this happen. Fair enough? :P

Could be all of the above or any combination of the above! Don't sweat the small stuff! There are lots of other things that really are serious enough to irritate me. I just ignore the answers that do not address the question.

Yes it does irritate me. If someone is completely off, it usually means that they didn't even read the whole thing. They just saw one word and talked about that. It probably happens in the early morning hours of insomniacs. "Wake up people!"

I really hate it when I want to hear from people who think like me but then I get all these people who think I'm wrong. That's really irritating especially when I make a special request to get responses only from certain people. Happens alot to many.

I don't think it's really benefitting anyone but I guess you can't complain if you put your question in a public forum. Thank God for the ability to block some people even though that is also frowned upon here at Yahoo Answers.

That reminds me of a story. One time....

Honestly, since there's very little keeping people from staying on topic, a lot of people use their little soapboxes to dispense tiny rants on the nearest subject to your question that they care about. I'm used to getting two or three solid answers out of twenty to anything I ask.

Illiterate or stupid? I suspect a number of people simply misread the question, or don't understand what's being asked. 'Obnoxious' comes into play more often when the Ctrl-V clones show up.

Some of them. But I'd say the majority are probably just accidentally going off on a tangent.

I haven't noticed that problem. Do you know when the best time to plant an orange tree in central Florida is? And while we're on the subject at what age does a person officially become a senior citizen?

Probably all three.

No. it does not irritate me. There is something processing there for them. If I feel that it doesn't pertain to me, I just move on to the next Q&A.

It doesn't make me laugh either...
