Whoops! To clarify I refer to the racist attitudes of some, but not all, white people there.

You mean to tell me that no one here has even ever laughed at a racist joke and felt a tinge of guilt over it?

The thought just occurred to me. Everyone here thinks I'm not white? I am. That how I know firsthand that most white people in south are racists!!!!

Racism is wrong!!!!!!!
God loves us all!!
I lived most my life in Tennessee and I do not (did not while there) do this. I always found it disgusting even before I got saved.

I don't live in or travel much in the south, but there is plenty of racism where I am too. I have never ever taken sides with anyone with a racist attitude. I would rather be the only one in a group of a hundred that wasn't racist and protesting loudly against it than even blend in a little bit. That sort of attitude disgusts me.

Not all people in the south have a racist attitude. I am not racist, also I have black family (brother in law, nieces, nephews) that I love very much.

Intimidated by whom? The KKK? No, sweetie, to most of us, the KKK are nothing more than retarded inbred rednecks who deserve to be punished for their ignorance.

I'm sorry if you've experienced any racism. Just remember that you are the better person.

I was born & raised in the South & I don't give lip service to that trash--believe me I have no problem speaking my mind about anything. I have some cousins who won't speak to me because I've stood up their racist attitudes.

I give lip service to NO ONE....... I will say my peace no matter who is around..... If they make a dagrogatory comment I will quickly set them straight...... I too, am from the South, south Texas, and I encountered much racism, and I find it boring and childish and stupid....... God created ALL man kind....... I do get angry at the way people treat each other and or talk about each other, but I feel more sorry for them..... To those who think, and I say *think* one race is supreme or better or more pure, I think you need to have your blood tested, I digress, sorry, they will face God with their egotistical and ugly thoughts and actions.... they will NOT get away with it !!!!! of that I am sure !!!! Go in peace..... God bless
PS. in case you are wondering I am white, honky, pale, rofl, what ever you care to call me.... first and foremost I am a Child of God.... with a very light skin tone !!!!!!!

No more than when people from the south come here. Im sure they feel the same way. But I have never felt intimidated, just stared at a lot.
I tell myself its because I am cute!

No -- I try very hard to treat each person as an individual and not project a racist view onto them just because they're black or Asian or whatever. Basically, I try to be kind to everyone I meet and hope they'll respond the same way.

I don't know "the south" you are talking about? Where I have traveled I haven't been confronted with it(My boyfriend is black) so I would think I would of,of all people to hear it.
But,to answer your question...I would give some lip service,I can't tolerate that kind of behavior.

I've laughed at black jokes, I've laughed at gay jokes, I've even laughed watching stand up comedians make fun of white people. Dave Chappelle cracks me up to no end.

Humor is humor. People looking to get offended are going to get offended.

Now, racist comments I will say something about. I don't tolerate that. Of course, I'm white and married to someone who isn't. :)

I live about as far north in this country as you can get...except for Alaska (I live in Maine) and I have only driven through the south to get to Florida, twice. I have a cousin from S. C. that used to come visit in the summers and he brought his racism with him. He was shocked to discover that we all did not subscribe to his notions and he learned to keep his prejudices to himself. If that's what it's like to live down south, I'll stay up here, because I do not intimidate well and would always be fighting with bigots.
