I know these are not great, I haven't been shooting long, so tell me what to improve on.

You are still taking "snap-shots". Most of your shots have the main subject centered in the shot. This gives a rather bland presentation. Loook up "Rule of thirds" on the web (The link is just one site out of many) using it will give your shots some "visual tension", that ability to hold the eye. Experiment with angles of view, lighting, and the like. Anyone can take a snapshot of a person or an event, start making yours ART.

You have some nice shots there, and some that don't measure up to the better ones. The baby with the beautiful eyes (the color one) is underexposed and would benefit from some levels adjustment. I really liked the cowboy boots, even with the selective color, and the sepia tractor. A few have more photoshop than I care for. Betterphoto is a great site to learn, so I'm sure you will continue to improve as you advance. Best wishes and enjoy!

Not bad, you just need to continue to shoot. The more you shoot, the better at it you will become. A couple of sugestions though, first the fireworks shot needs a more steady tripod and you will benefit from using a remote shutter release. You'll find that you can rid yourself of the squigglies. And second, IMO partial desaturation or partial saturation is somewhat passe. I've seen it done SO many times that it's just crazy boring. Cute kid though, but I think he would look better in either all color or all B&W. It does show your proficiency with photoshop though so I can't ding you too bad.

I'm not a photo whiz myself, so I am not sure what advice I can offer in terms of critique or improvements- but I do have an artist's eye and I can tell you that these are terrific!

They're great! Shooting is one thing, developing is another. Do you that too. Coz' if you do develope and print them your self then that's pretty impressive.
