Give him a little more time to get acclimated to Nascar's style of racing, and I think he'll do very well. He has improved all season. He is a good driver, with a lot of driving experience.
Go Jr.>>>>

I think the criticism of Montoya is a bit harsh. He had never driven a stock car before October of last year. He's driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, which has been a mid-pack team for several years now. He's a rookie, ranked 19th in points - Clint Bowyer was 18th in points this time last year (his rookie season); Martin Truex Jr. was 21st in points this time last year (his rookie season). Montoya won a race this year (Sonoma), something that Bowyer and Truex did not do in their rookie seasons. Yes, Montoya has caused a few wrecks, but he's used to F1 cars that are much more responsive than stock cars. He's leading the rookie standings, and I think he'll do a lot better next year.

Why all the hype about Junior? He's just a so so driver who causes a lot of blown engines. What is funny is if that aggressiveness that Montoya shows belonged to Junior, no one would be complaining at all, and they would be saying "Oh, that's just racing, that's how its supposed to be."
You also need to remember...Montoya has won a race this year!

#1 You obviously have no stats to back up that claim because there are several drivers that have caused twice as many wrecks.
#2 Correct me if Im wrong but he will be rookie of the year.
#3 I believe he has a win this year. How many wins does Kasey Kahne, Dale Jr and Ryan Newman have? What was that? "ZERO" ???
I wont even get into the points compared too other so called "stars."
Have a nice day.

he's one of the best race car drivers in the world. he won the Indy 500 and a Champ Car driver's title. in F1 he could have won the 2003 driver's title had the F1 not favored Ferrari during a controversial call. plus, despite having an engine that has a 33% fatality rate, he was still in the thick of the title fight. he's one of the best overtakers even though overtaking is very limited in F1. he takes a lot of chances and he's not afraid to take them. sometimes it results in a crash, but no guts, no glory.
there are no questions about his talent. however, being hotheaded he usually loses races because of this.

The Tv Announcers and Media started all the hype because he was a new driver coming in from a different series of racing. Anything new is something to talk about. Then his agressive style of driving and the wrecks he caused added fuel to the fire!!!!!!

Lets see, 2007 is his first year in race along with 4+ others........Best rookie with 803 points in front of next rookie David Ragan. Won a race this year.... More than Dale Jr, Ryan Newman, Bobby Labonte...
Dont be so narrow minded when bashing a driver. I find it hard to believe from an HMS fan. No wonder people throw bottles when they win. Respect others if you want respect. You must be a Kyle Bush fan on the way out of HMS.

I don't think it was all hype. This guy has been an excellent driver in all other types of car racing. Don't get me wrong here I am NOT a Montoya supporter as far as cheering for him. But he does have an impressive resume. I would not doubt that one day he will be fairly dominant given the right equipment.

Not one of my favorite drivers, but I respect what he's accomplished. I think some fans have been a little TOO hard on him.
Could have sworn I heard some snickering Sunday when Jr. gave Montoya a "love tap."
That'll cost Dale eventually. I don't think JPM will forget.

Montoya's a newbie. And they always get a lot of publicity. Plus, he's not American, that might have something to do with it. But I think he's inexpeirenced. He needs a few more years.

There is so much hype because Juan Pablo is one of only two people in history to win both the Indy 500 and the Monaco grand prix. And he shares that title with one of the most famous people in racing history, Mario Andretti, thus all of the hype. Obviously he his great.
