My cousin and I always laugh about all the times we got, well let's be frank, beat. We never got it when we didn't deserve it and it wasn't a problem where we would show up to school with bruises and stuff but they definitely weren't great experiences.

My favorite is when my cousin took a knife to his dads classic car and ripped all the interior. He got his *** beat for that one lol. Horrible time, I remember everyone crying but now we talk about it and it's hilarious. I think these things kept us out of trouble, we were both scared of our dads.

Man I bet you never got it as bad as I did. I think I got as we called them "whoopings" everyday. Like you said never out of order but very much needed.

My funniest story looking back is getting my butt blasted when I was younger when my mother left me (the oldest child) in the car with my two younger brothers while at my grandmothers hous. Well when she came outside the car was in a ditch becasue I put the car in reverse (don't aske me why I did it). Needless to say I thought that I was gonna die that day.

Oh ya. I think it is part of being a kid and looking back on it the stuff I did was stupid but was really funny too... I was one that was raised to walk the like or ya got a beating.. But I got what I deserved and was never abused. These kids these days turning their parents in for abuse over a spanking is silly.. And people wonder why kids are the way they are.. i raise my kid the way I was raised he knows right from wrong and a punishment will follow if he chooses to do wrong.. I am the oldest of 4. There's nothing wrong with the way I was raised. Don't get me wrong I didn't enjoy whippings but I think it made be a better person and to know that there are consequences for my actions good or bad..

Nick it certainly was a different era then as you have suggested. Back then it was normal way of raising your child with discipline and a heavy hand. I most certainly do laugh today and like yourself my cousins and I will laugh about the days when the belt would come off or the hairbrush be thrown at one of their heads. Aw, the good old days. Ha!

Yes. I remember my three younger cousins and I running out of the house with my aunt behind us trying to catch us to spank us for something we all did (like once going to the back yard and getting a fire started and taking my grandmas old pots and pans to play kitchen.... : ) those were the goodd old times) but ofcourse that was about 25 yrs ago...

Of course me and my brothers would get whooping before we did anything. My mother would say this is so if we did try to get into trouble or embarass her it would remind us. But I must say we never got in any real trouble. Those were much different times.
