why limit it to Mc Donald 's?
Do you ever see people praying before meals in any restaurant = fast food or otherwise?
I am not embarrased to pray in public - and often I do. Sometimes however, I quietly thank God for the food quietly to my self -depending upon the situtation - It's not about doing it for show as much as it's the attitude of the heart.

Ouch. That is a good one. I used to work at a fast food place and sometimes people would pray before they ate but you are right, that was the exception to the rule.
Also, sunday lunch rush was the worst. The church people descended on us like a plague of locusts. They were the rudest of any customers that we ever dealt with.
Also, for those who say they are doing it secretly, then you are saying that christians are capable of keeping their prayer to themselves and not making a big scene out of it? Then why are so many christians so vocal about getting prayer put into school? I have seen it so many times on here. "Put prayer back in school!!!" If the kids can pray and keep it to themselves, then there is no reason to have a school lead prayer.

Yes I pray before eating. I've been doing so since childhood. Actually, I say the prayer in Cantonese because that's the first prayer I learned. :D It goes in English something like, "Thank You God for this food. I pray that it will nourish my body and help me grow strong." and more stuff. It's a children's prayer, but I still pray it. :)

I have to admit there has been times when at McDonald's after I have got my sons chicken nuggets placed out, opened the right sauces for him, cleaned up the power aide off the floor that he has spilled in the mean time, gone up to get him a refill, all while carrying my 8 mon. old who is crying because she wants to nurse, which I have to wait until I can get completely covered so I do not offend anyone just as she is latched on my son needs to go to the bathroom so I tell him to wait 1 min. then she pulls off the blanket just as she is pulling off and I squirt milk all over. It is usually right around that time that I remember and I thank God for all the little blessings in my life.
I really do need to be better at that, thanks for the reminder:)

So sorry to tell you this , but your are Wrong !!! Christians pray silently to themselves and to God. They don't sit and mumble or speak out loud when in a crowd. The reason is because we don't want to disrupt other people and force our beliefs onto others. You are not all over the world at the same time and your so pathetically Wrong. Many Christians say a silent Thanks to God for all the Wonderful Blessings He has bestowed upon us. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be Saved.

you've never been in a McDonald's at the same time as I have then...but, Christians are also taught not to participate in "showy" prayer. Christ speaks of those who pray loudly, and beat their chests so that others can see how devoute they are. I prefer to simply bow my head, and quietly thank my Lord for His bounty. Perhaps this is why you've never "seen" anyone pray at McDonald's

It's NOT laziness, it's embarrassment. Most people don't really like to make a public spectacle of either their religiousity OR their (supposed) spirituality. This is addressed in the Bible, by the way: the part about praying in secret to be rewarded in secret.
Doesn't bother either me OR my wife - we ALWAYS say our thank yous to the Goddess before we chow down, no matter where we are.

I know a family that does, and I've observed several groups of people doing it at the Burger King across from my work over the last three months.
It could be based on the verse from Matthew about praying in public.

Well you've never seen me then, because I bless and sanctify my food or what ever I put in my mouth, even if it is a cup of water or a mint. But I do not make myself a spectacle doing it. I bow my head and place my right hand over my food and that is anywhere I eat and say my blessing. I don't care who sees me but I do not shout it out, it is personal.

Maybe they said it in the car so that people wouldn't condemn them for making a big deal out of their prayers at McDonalds where everyone can see them.
Or maybe they say it silently as they are unwrapping their burgers or nuggets...
Don't be so judgmental. You can't possibly know all the prayers that are being said at any given time, just because you don't "see" them.
